Imagic er utformet som line source høyttaler. Med sin høyde på 195 cm sørger den for god vertikalspredning samt at line source utstrålingen gjør høyttaleren mer immun mot akustiske problem i lytterommet. Høyttalerens bredde på kun 11 cm gir meget god horisontal spredning, og ved 30 grader ut av aksen, oppnås fortsatt flat respons til 30kHz.
18 stk 7,5 cm fullrange enheter dekker området fra 80-10.000 Hz. Disse drives uten noen form for delefilter og man oppnår på denne måten en uhørt definisjon og detaljering.

Fra 10kHz overtas responsen av en ekte bånddiskant, som med sin utrolig lave masse på kun 10 mg overgår andre diskantsystem med god margin når det gjelder hurtighet, mykhet og detaljering. Fulltonene utmerker seg også med meget lav bevegelig masse på kun 2 gram. YARA II – The next generation. To continue the phenomenal success story of the past six years, Audio Physic has decided it is time to revamp its Yara line by creating a new top model – the YARA SUPERIOR. All technical components underwent a full facelift representing the cutting edge of technology and loudspeaker design. A nice touch is the cosmetic refinement to update the look of the loudspeaker. The new oval-shaped grilles of the YARA SUPERIOR are mounted by special screws using an Audio Physic technology developed for the prestigious SCORPIO and AVANTI models. Drilling holes or inserting plastic anchors into the YARA baffle has now become a thing of the past. Compared to the first YARA generation, the new terminal is now made of aluminium and fitted with elaborate gold-plated connectors.

An emerging generation of woofer/midrange drivers, implemented here for the first time, sets a new benchmar with more powerful magnets, larger and longer voice coils as well as more sophisticated diaphragms, spiders and surrounds. Small and large signal behaviour is thereby further increased whereas distortions are further reduced.

The YARA II SUPERIOR comes as a true 3-way loudspeaker built according to the principle of Audio Physic’s push-push technology where the loudspeaker manufacturer found a possibility of making a perfect technology even more perfect. The two side-firing 7’’ woofers are effectively arranged back to back just above the bottom base of the loudspeaker. Their stable aluminium diaphragms move simultaneously in the same direction, either inwards or outwards, whereas a reactive movement of the cabinet can be prevented from the start. In addition, vibrations transmitted from the loudspeakers are compensated. The use of a very low crossover frequency between the woofers and midrange allows easy positioning of the loudspeakers where the distance to walls or furniture can be quite small.

The Tempo is a completely remodelled and newly designed loudspeaker, a vintage Audio Physic product which carries on the tradition and signifies the important role its predecessor played in our range. It is built according to the principle of our advanced push-push technology which has already been successfully implemented in larger Audio Physic models.

Design

The blending of dynamics and endurance achieved by the Tempo is unparalleled in the history of loudspeaker design. The Audio Physic Tempo was so far ahead of its time that the three modifications which have been provided to the design since 1986 have ensured the loudspeaker’s outstanding position in the face of international competition. Only very few and more expensive legendary loudspeakers can say the same.

But driving on the high-speed lane of development for such a long time has had its price. At Audio Physic we feel that the basic concept of racy loudspeakers as titled by the stereoplay HiFi magazine in October 2001 has finally come to a close after 19 years. This is why we have decided to introduce a completely remodelled and newly designed Tempo, a vintage Audio Physic loudspeaker which carries on the tradition and signifies the important role its predecessor played in our product range.

What has remained is the 7° angled slim cabinet to equalise phase differences between the tweeter and midrange drivers. That is about all the new Tempo has in common with its predecessor. The new model is an elegant and graceful loudspeaker tuned for optimum elimination of standing waves with its rounded side edges at the rear panel - the cabinet being a masterpiece in terms of workmanship with its many chambers and braces.

The Tempo is built according to the principle of our advanced push-push technology which has already been successfully implemented in larger Audio Physic models. The two woofers of the 3-way loudspeaker are arranged effectively back-to-back, mounted magnet to magnet, in order to avoid cabinet resonances and to support a small-baffle design. The rear panel unobtrusively houses the bass reflex port. If it were not for our modesty, it could be said that we have left those relentless in their pursuit of the Tempo far behind.

Despite the many differences between the new model and the traditional ones, the new Tempo has benefited immensely from the Audio Physic product range where synergy, as ever, is everything. Cabinet design and driver technology have been taken from the successful Avanti. Thus we have met the challenge of achieving a very high level of performance in a smaller, more affordable and budget-conscious loudspeaker.

Audio Physic’s quest for perfect sound reproduction is not only reflected in elaborate drivers, intricate crossover networks and sophisticated cabinet design, it is also seen in small and apparently secondary details. The newly developed connecting terminal is aluminium, Bitumen damped and fitted with neoprene for elastic suspension. Extensive tests which were carried out proved the adverse effect of uncontrolled vibrations on sound quality transmitted from the loudspeaker cables to the whole sound reproduction chain.

 

At this point, however, it is not enough to just write about sound. Why not get your own impression of the superb sound staging of the new Tempo! Just listen to the effortless-sounding Tempo and be enthralled by the way the loudspeaker conveys the essence of whatever music it is reproducing. It provides a fast dynamic tracking and processing of input signals – hence the name Tempo – with no sign of hardness or harshness. With the Tempo, you will feel swept away by its controlled speed, while also enjoying the feeling of control. This means the loudspeaker is neither pretentious nor overbearing.

In this race it is not just speed that counts.

generation of its success model.

Avanti! Forward! Let’s go! Whether it is Italian fans cheering their red formula 1 race cars or Tifosi, Italian football fans displaying utter passion for their national team - when everything is at stake the rallying cry is Avanti! However there is more to Avanti than simply the notion of moving forward. It also stands for a progressive way of life as well as passion, motivation and progress. Audio Physic recognised the name for what it symbolises and gave it to a revolutionary loudspeaker, first introduced in 1989 and featuring an all-new design concept. The Audio Physic AVANTI was the first loudspeaker to overcome the seemingly insurmountable challenge of matching a rich and full bass response with a slim cabinet. Due to the woofers being arrayed on each side of the cabinet, the loudspeaker could be fitted with large drivers and yet keep a narrow baffle design which would otherwise only be possible with two-way compact speakers. The elegantly slim cabinet added aesthetic appeal as well as provided excellent dispersion characteristics. Reflections in the mid-to-high frequencies, usually associated with wide baffle constructions, finally became a thing of the past, even in large and mature floor standing loudspeakers. The new concept was then embraced by many manufacturers. Today there are quite a number of large loudspeakers which follow in the footsteps of the AVANTI.

With Audio Physic’s brand-new successor to the venerable loudspeaker, every unit and technical aspect has undergone rigorous testing procedures. The AVANTI V has gone into production with a completely new cabinet design, new drivers and crossovers while at the same time remaining true to the three-and-a-half way system with four side-firing 7" woofers. Needless to say that Audio Physic's cutting-edge knowledge on driver technology, gained over the past six years since the last re-design of the AVANTI, has been applied to the new loudspeaker. The exception is the tweeter system where the so called Hyper-Holographic-Cone tweeter, a new and most recent development by Audio Physic, provides highs in a new dimension. The key question was, after the tedium of innumerable and finally unsatisfactory listening sessions with a variety of different systems, what arguments are against the use of a cone, an excellent membrane choice for all other frequency ranges. The answer: nothing except old-fashioned views dating back to the era of cheap tweeters of an almost unbelievably bad quality mounted in loudspeakers sold off the supermarket shelves. When coupled with state-of-the-art technology ranging from a magnet system built of four Neodymium plates to ceramic coated aluminium diaphragms, cone tweeters as well as high frequency reproduction pioneer new standards and create a new definition. A viable method to ensure seamless integration and smooth transition to the midrange area without the occurrence of a specific coloration known from other systems. Instruments are reproduced with their own characteristic upper spectrum where the sound character is not modified by self induced ringing of the tweeter. Several years of development culminated in the production of a tweeter which is virtually inaudible. Now that is luxury!

The cabinet of the AVANTI follows even more closely the design of the Caldera. The use of refined CAD technology allows for a newly designed structure where the cabinet becomes lighter, more rigid and, above all, more efficient. With conventional designs, the interior surface of the cabinet is likely to be smooth and flat whereas the inside of the new AVANTI is marked by numerous apertures and slits to just below the exterior surface of the cabinet. This is a highly efficient means to drastically extend the relevant surface area as well as significantly increase the cabinet volume.

The cabinet is an open sandwich construction engineered for high internal damping to eliminate structural resonances, making little use of additional absorbing materials.

The result can be easily explained by comparing an empty room such as an indoor swimming pool or a new, unfurnished apartment to an equally empty cellar vault. The latter, due to its irregular wall structure, is less prone to create unwanted flutter echoes than the other two rooms with their flat and smooth walls. A similar effect can be observed in pubs or clubs in newly constructed buildings compared to those located in old or historical buildings. New pub locations usually have to contend with flat, unplastered walls where the level of surrounding noise is much higher than in cellar pubs.

Through the intelligent combination of several high damping materials, Audio Physic has achieved a cabinet design capable of eliminating still existing cabinet resonance and coloration right from the start. In addition to being gently slanted – the Audio Physic solution to correctly time align the drivers – the front baffle is smoothly rounded in order to minimise diffraction and improve the horizontal radiation pattern. Therefore, sound waves can radiate with the loudspeaker cabinet having hardly any influence on them at all. Optimising the AVANTI's cabinet has yielded a result which appeals as much to the eye as to the ear. Spatial sound reproduction, the loudspeaker’s trump card ever since, is noticeably more three dimensional and offers a much larger spatial image.

When a loudspeaker such as the AVANTI is given time and conditions in which to mature, it is often that progress is only accomplished by adopting a large number of detailed measures.

The vibration control terminal (VCT), fitted with neoprene for elastic suspension, is one of these details. Decoupling the terminal from the cabinet is an effective solution to avoid the transmission of vibrations from the cabinet to the loudspeaker cables as well as other associated equipment. Just a minor detail, or so it seems. Despite or maybe because of the AVANTI’s exquisite technology combined with top-class quality, this detail was able to achieve an obvious level of efficiency when practically applied.

With the new AVANTI, Audio Physic not only builds on the success of its sublime, critically acclaimed loudspeaker series, the manufacturer has also achieved a new benchmark in high fidelity performance and excellence. At Audio Physic we take special pride in saying that we are the first to achieve that our new loudspeaker lets the music flow with glorious sound and virtually no discernible imprint of its own but for a touch of refinement, elegance and ease.

With the 022, Burmester is introducing a speaker with really compact dimensions for the first time. It was possible to realize the goal of creating a sound converter for confined spaces as well as for use in a home theater set-up, while adhering to the Burmester quality standards:

The construction unites the AMT (Air Motion Transformer), which is known for its speed and resolution capacities, with the powerful low-midrange combination of a highly developed woofer drive and cleverly designed bass reflex cabinet. This results in a homogenous full-range loudspeaker.

Tweeter:
An AMT (Air Motion Transformer), which operates after the principles of the Airmotion Transformers by Dr. Oskar Heil. Through contractions of the membrane folds, the air is set into motion extremely fast, which is impossible with the regularly used (dynamic) dome tweeters.

Bass/Midrange Drive:
An elaborate die-cast aluminum enclosure houses the NOMEX-membrane, which is constructed with considerable inner damping. (This membrane itself is made out of an air-dried, resonance minimized NAWI-cone with reinforced fiber.) The membrane is attached via longterm durable rubber surround and a central spider suspension, which is ventilated bilaterally, making it suited for large excursions. The extra-long high temperature moving coil is powered by a strong magnet system.
This way, the 022-drivers are ideally equipped for the dynamic standards (live atmosphere) required by Burmester products. Furthermore, both drivers are magnetically shielded, so that the 022 can be set up very close to a television set without any problems.

Cabinet:
The reinforced cabinet, made out of 22 mm MDF board, is layered with a thick felt fleece on the inside, which suppresses disturbing resonances within the cabinet, without hindering the necessary expansion of sound for bass reflex speakers. Instead of a reflex tube, which is succeptible to air motion turbulences and natural resonances, a phase reversal channel is used, which avoids such effects. The outside outlet of the channel is positioned in front, below the front plate, so that the 022 can be set up close to a wall without hindering the reflex radiation. Inside, the channel ends directly behind the driver, which ensures that it can operate effectively. This way, cabinet and reflex channel are optimated for the bass/midrange driver used, resulting in a reproduction with an exact impulse and strong bass signal.
The front facing is painted silver and covers not only all optically bothersome screws and parts of the drivers which are not necessary for sound radiation; the sound paths created by it also add to the desired sound emanation. The front mounting of the cabinet, together with a felt damping layer between cabinet and facing results in a 40 mm thick baffle, which is completely free of natural resonances.

The Crossover Circuit:
Highest quality parts, with the least possible deficiency, such as MP-film capacitors, very low resistance, low distortion coils, as well as metal film resistors are thus combined to form a network with 12dB-filter characteristics. This way, the amplitude-frequency response and impedance characterisitcs are linear, and impulse as well as time characteristics are at their optimum. The pc-board with a thick copper layer on both sides is directly bolted to the stable and contact-secure pole terminals, which are also used in all the 'big' Burmester products. Of course the 022 is also ready for bi-wiring/bi-amping-operation.

Set-up:
The 022 rests on felt-gliders, which not only provide a secure set-up but also prevent any harm to furniture. It can be connected to the speaker stand 023, which is constructed in the same design as the Burmester racks 023.

Seit 1994 fertigen wir Lautsprecher, die sich weltweit größter Beliebtheit erfreuen und zur tragenden Säule der Firma geworden sind. Die Serie der Lautsprecher die der B97 angelehnt sind, erfahren nun nach der B99, B100, B80 und B50 eine Ergänzung.

Die neuen Modelle B30, B25 und B20 bieten die gleichen klanglichen Eigenschaften wie Ihre größeren Schwestern und sind sie mühelos in der Lage auch große Räume mit vollem Klang zu füllen. Und das alles zu einem attraktiven Preis.

Die neuen Lautsprecher B30, B25 und B20 nehmen klanglich entscheidende Teile der B100 auf und bringen sie mit Merkmalen der 961 zusammen. Das Ergebnis sind ästhetisch ansprechende Lautsprecher, welche die klanglichen Eigenschaften der B100 für ein breites Publikum erschwinglich machen.

Folgende Merkmale habe die B30, B25 und B20 mit der B100 gemeinsam:

1. Neuer Mitteltöner: Der neue Mitteltöner ist eine Burmester Eigenentwicklung, die wir mit dem Burmester ‚B’ auf der Kevlar-Gewebemembran dokumentiert haben. Erfahrungen aus dem Bugatti-Projekt machten diese Entwicklung möglich. Das gesamte Schwingsystem (Membran/Sicken) wurde speziell auf den Einsatz in den B30, B25 und B20 Lautsprechern hin entwickelt. Ein kraftvolles Antriebssystem aus Nd Magneten verhilft den B30, B25 und B20 zu einer präzisen und detailgetreuen Mitteltonwiedergabe wie schon von der B100 bekannt. Im Zusammenspiel mit der auf den neuen Mitteltöner angepassten Frequenzweiche ist zugleich der Frequenzverlauf im kritischen Mitteltonbereich (300-1500Hz) nochmals deutlich linearer geworden als bei Lautsprechern anderer Hersteller. Die Musikreproduktion hat die enorme Kraft und Substanz der B100.
2. Ein neuer AMT (Air Motion Transformer), der einen noch weiter ausgedehnten Frequenz-Verlauf von 1.800 bis über 45.000Hz aufweist, findet seinen Einsatz in einem Hornaufsatz. Mit diesem ebenfalls aus der B100 bekannten Konstruktionsprinzip kann der Hochtöner bereits ab 2800 Hz angekoppelt werden und höchste Pegel unverzerrt wiedergeben.
3. Die seitlich angeordneten ovalen Tieftöner maximieren die Membranfläche und sorgen mit ihrem extrem starken Ferrit Magnetsystem für kraftvolle Basswiedergabe. Die Bässe sind unter den aus der B100, B80 und B50 bekannten Burmester Rippen versteckt, welche die Tieftöner effektiv vor Berührung schützen ohne die Schallabstrahlung der Tieftöner zu behindern.
4. Die aus dänischer Fertigung stammenden Gehäuse setzen auf die Verwendung von Birkenpress- sowie HDF-Platten (hochdichte Faser). Aluminium Laminat und edle Furniere verleihen den Lautsprechern ein Finish auf allerhöchstem Niveau.
5. Die Frequenzweichen wurden ebenfalls aus der B100 Frequenzweiche abgeleitet. Die Frequenzweichen konnten auf Grund der speziell für diese Lautsprecher angefertigten Chassis einfach gestaltet werden. Klangliche Beeinflussungen bleiben so außen vor. Die Innenverkabelung besteht aus hochreinem OCC Kupfer, 8 mm² für die TT und 4 mm² für MT und HT.

Computermatching

Alle Chassis werden 14 Tage eingespielt (Tieftöner und Mitteltöner mit 10 Hz, Hochtöner mit rosa Rauschen). Per Computer werden danach alle Chassis über ihren Frequenzverlauf an 6 Punkten vermessen (nicht nur an den Übergangsfrequenzen) und dann mit einer garantierten Paarabweichung von weniger als 0.5 dB über den gesamten Frequenzgang zusammengepaart. Nachdem ein ideales Pärchen Hochtöner gefunden ist, sucht der Computer ein passendes Pärchen Mitteltöner, danach das hierzu passende Pärchen Tieftöner. Durch diese Prozedur entstehen praktisch identische Lautsprecherpaare. Der riesige Aufwand wird durch die bestechende Räumlichkeit belohnt. Burmester Lautsprecher sind durch die erzielte Paargleichheit in der Lage, z.B. Stimmen wie festgenagelt im Raum zu halten. Die Musik löst sich vom Lautsprecher und steht wie eine Wolke im Raum. Wie wir meinen, ist dieser Aufwand nicht nur in dieser Preisklasse einmalig, sondern bei Burmester Lautsprechern Stand der Technik.

Besonderheit

Die Tieftöner strahlen seitlich von den einander zugewandten Seiten ab. Diese Anordnung hat den Vorteil, dass der vom Tieftöner abgestrahlte hochfrequente Schallanteil nicht direkt zum Hörplatz gelangt.
Außerdem wird durch die einander zugewandten Tieftonmembranen eine zusätzliche Kompression im Tieftonbereich ohne Auslöschungseffekte erreicht. Der Abstand zwischen den Lautsprechern sollte im Idealfall ca. 2,5 Meter betragen.
Bedämpfung

* Sparsame Bedämpfung der beiden Tieftonkammern, um möglichst wenig Tieftonenergie zu schlucken. Dämmmaterial ist Filz, der Lautsprecher ist nicht mit Dämmwolle vollgestopft. Dadurch kann der Lautsprecher die Bässe bei allen Wiedergabelautsärken schön konturieren.
* Bedämpfung der Mitteltonkammer mit Dämpfungsfilz und einer wohl-dosierten Menge Faservlies, um den vom Mitteltöner rückseitig abgestrahlten Schall zu absorbieren

The RONDO loudspeaker 995 MK3 is closely related to Burmesters 975 LEO. The chassis and the crossover are almost identical. By re-designing the 975 LEO with its stand into a floorstanding speaker and by omitting the expensive aluminum frontpanel of the LEO the 995 MK3 came in at a very attractive price point.

As Burmesters smallest loudspeaker the 995 MK3 is a three way speaker with a loaded woofer. Dieter Burmester's goal when developing the 995 was to create a full range speaker capable of great dynamic response while at the same time doing justice to the tonality and subtleties of instruments and voices and the rhythm of the music (recommended listening: Hans Theesink on the new Burmester reference CD3).

Drivers are matched by computer

All drivers are broken in by running non-stop for 7 days (woofers and mid-range drivers at 10 Hz, tweeters with pink noise). After that they are measured at six points over their frequency range and matched by computer into pairs with a guaranteed deviation of less than 0.5 dB. After matching ideal pairs Burmester then use the computer to best match woofers, mid-range drivers and tweeters. By this arduous procedure Burmester create practically identical speakers. The effort is rewarded with superior imaging chracteristics. The sonic images created by the 995 MK3 never wander, voices stay in place as if they were nailed there and music plays in the room like a cloud instead of beaming from the speaker box. The effort and care Burmester take in producing these speakers is the way they do everything at Burmester. In comparison with the rest of the industry, however, it is unique not just in this price range.

Since introducing the first model in 1994 Burmesters speakers have earned an excellent reputation worldwide. The 949 (949 signifies September of `94) was the first genuine Burmester loudspeaker. It was the beginning of a family of speakers which now includes the 961 MK3 and the 995.

The 961 MK3 as the big sister of the 995 does not have to strain to fill even large rooms with full sound. Burmester customers all over the world have combined these speakers successfully with components of Burmesters model lines RONDO, CLASSIC or TOP. Of course, the 961 MK3 work just as well with audio electronics of other manufacturers.

As is customary for Burmester, older models of the 961 may be factory-upgraded to the 961 MK 3 version with the new Kevlar speaker cone.

(We recommend coordinating dates for the upgrade work with the factory in advance to ensure a speedy turn-around)

The new 961 MK 3 differs mainly in two aspects from its predecessor model:

1. The new mid-range driver decisively advances the strengths of its predecessor. The whole vibration system (cone/rubber surround) has been improved to achieve a more precise and detailed reproduction of the midrange. In combination with the necessary re-design of the crossover network it results in even greater linearity in the critical midrange area (300 to 1000 Hz) than with the older 961. In comparison with the original 961 music reproduced through the new MK 3 has more power and substance. The new mid-range driver of the MK 3 version is distinguished by its cone made of a coated Kevlar mesh.
2. The crossover of the MK 3 version has been re-designed for the new driver.
3. The former tweeter has been replaced by a new generation AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter with an even larger frequency range exceeding 45000 Hz.

However, the proven strengths of the older models – the woofer and the housing design – have been left unchanged.
What is so special about Burmester loudspeakers?

Music – completely detached from the speaker

In combination with highest-quality electronics and top-notch interconnect and speaker cables Burmesters loudspeakers are capable of transporting music live and three-dimensionally directly to the listener.

We build speakers with attention to detail

A superior concept requires corresponding care of execution. All of Burmesters drivers which have been custom-made to Burmesters specifications are burnt-in by us before being measured and computer-matched in pairs with extremely low variances. This procedure guarantees mating tolerances between pairs of speakers that are as low as to be previously regarded as unachievable. Since Burmester archive the technical measurements of each individual driver Burmester are able to supply an identical replacement at any time.

Loudspeakers which are easy on the eyes

A speaker should be built in such a way that it practically enhances any ambient décor. This requires top-quality materials and craftsmanship as well as a perfect design. Burmesters loudspeakers are available in rowan berry and makassar veneer as well as custom lacquers and an unusual silver metallic laminate.

The placement of Burmesters speakers is mostly uncritical and due to their modest size they can be easily integrated into any living space. The floor-standing 961 MK3 is a three-way speaker with side-firing bass driver in a rear-vented bass reflex design.

Burmester’s design goal has been to create a small yet full-range speaker able to reproduce music from the highest to the lowest octave. Furthermore, it should be dynamically exciting and convey the full power and substance of all voices and instruments. (A good example is a cut by Hans Theessink on Burmester’s reference CD3)

Computer matching

All drivers undergo a 14-day burn-in (woofer and mid-range drivers with constant 10 Hz, tweeters with pink noise). After that, all drivers are measured by computer at six points of their response curve (not only at the crossover points) and matched in pairs to within less than 0.5 dB deviation over their full frequency range. After an ideal pair of tweeters has been found the computer searches for a matching ideal pair of mid-range drivers and, finally, woofers. This procedure ensures practically identical pairs of speakers and the extraordinary effort is rewarded with incredible three-dimensionality. The careful pairing of drivers enables the 961 to project rock-solid images of voices and instruments. The music detaches from the speakers and seems to float like a cloud. We believe this amount of care is unequalled not only at this price level. Burmester loudspeakers are the state of the art.

Special features

The bass drivers of the 961 MK3 fire from the sides of the two speaker cabinets towards each other. The advantage of this design is that the high-frequency portion of the woofer output does not radiate directly towards the listener. Furthermore, facing the bass diaphragms towards each other achieves additional bass compression without cancellation effects. Ideally, the speakers should be positioned app. 2.5 m apart.

Damping

* The two bass chambers are only sparsely dampened to preserve as much bass energy as possible. Felt is used for damping as opposed to stuffing the speaker with wool. The result is a well-contoured bass reproduction.

The B50 is a direct descendant of Burmesters flagship models B99 and B80. The design of the B50 has been inspired by airplane building and is a reminder of the riveted wings of large turboprops. The model designation underlines the similarities by putting the first letter of the designers name before the model number. The design goal was to create an acoustically ideal yet slender and beautiful speaker system that would easily fit into any living environment, despite its size.

The B50 is a three-way full-range speaker with internal passive crossover. Similar to the larger B99, the B50 sports a highly sophisticated cabinet with an acoustically decoupled chamber for the crossover.

Design Goals and Construction Features:

The B50 has been designed and constructed for natural musical reproduction at any volume level and even hurricane-like sound pressure levels of around 115 dB will not faze this speaker weighing almost 50 kg. Its inner chamber is made of one inch thick ultra-stiff MDF board with an additional complex internal bracing system and is brought into its rounded shape with great skill. The rounded shape and the chamber system drastically reduce sound reflexions within the cabinet.

Separate compartments for mid-range driver and tweeter give additional stiffness. Like all Burmester speakers, the B50 is not damped by wool stuffing but by felt-like mats of varying thickness on the inside of the speaker cabinet walls. The thickness of these mats has been calculated precisely in relation to their placement within the cabinet. This special procedure by Burmester gives the B50 an extremely fast and well-defined bass. Due to the low damping of the woofer the bass remains fully audible even at very low volume levels.

The crossover of the B50 has been designed for high performance and transfer of the signal to the various drivers with minimal loss. With a weight of app. 12 kg it is one of the most sophisticated designs on the world market today. The crossover sits in its own completely sealed enclosure at the bottom of the speaker cabinet. The binding posts are located invisibly on the underside of the speaker. The crossover allows bi-amping as well as bi-wiring.

The overriding goal behind this liberal use of top-class material was to create an extremely low-resistance crossover allowing the high internal damping of the amplifiers to pass to the drivers with minimal loss. Only then are the amps able to tightly control the various drivers.

The circuit boards of the crossover have been covered with a 105 µm-thick layer of copper. While the bass drivers are connected with 10 mm² high-purity copper litz, the mid-range drivers and tweeters are coupled to the crossover using a new Burmester speaker cable of pure silver.

Special feature: computer-matched drivers

All drivers are broken in at high signal levels by Burmester Audiosysteme non-stop for seven days (woofers and mid-range drivers with 10 Hz, tweeters with pink noise). Then they are measured very carefully over their full frequency range and finally matched in pairs by computer. After the computer-matching process Burmester guarantee that the overall frequency deviation between left and right speaker is less than 0.5 dB! With this procedure Burmester can guarantee the technical specs of the speakers for a long time. Burmesters speakers do not need the otherwise customary burn-in period and do not change specs when hooked up by the customer (see computer data).

Cabinet Construction:

• Massive chambers with extremely rigid inner housing with rounded sides to avoid undesirable resonance at the cabinet surface
• Bass-reflex woofer enclosure (50 liters volume) with a low frequency cut-off below 35 Hz

Special feature:

The woofers of the B50 radiate from the side of the speaker cabinet towards each other. This configuration has the advantage that undesirable high frequencies emanating from the woofers (partial harmonics) do not reach the listening position directly.

The B100 is Burmesters new flag ships in the loudspeaker program. The form of B 100 is taken and reminded to the aircraft construction of the aerodynamically clean bearing areas of large airplanes. New technical realizations flowed into the development. Measuring techniques of most modern kind helped with the development to exclude also smallest errors. The time-correct rendition and high dynamics those the live representation corresponding were demands in the obligation booklet of the B100. The result is a graceful designed loudspeaker, which can be integrated despite its size harmoniously into each living room and at the same time the gates to the benefitful music rendition opens.

The B100 is a three-way full-range loudspeaker with built-in phaserigid passive crossover with filters of first order.

Bass-, mid-range and high-frequency drivers are arranged in a d’Appolito configuration. The cabinet of the B100 is double-walled.

Design goals and construction features:

The B100 is not laid out for rendition true to nature also with highest levels and even with gale-like levels over 115 dB brings those nearly 128kg heavy box anything from the peace. For this a double-walled housing ensures belonged to the most complicated, what was ever invented for high ending a loudspeaker. The internal chamber is composed strong MDF plates with complicated interior reinforcements of 25mm. Additional firmness the central gives to high/mid tone chambers as well as a reinforcement by 6mm strong aluminum plates. Special feature: computer-matched drivers

All drivers are broken in at high signal levels by Burmester Audiosysteme non-stop for seven days (woofers and mid-range drivers with 10 Hz, tweeters with pink noise). Then they are measured very carefully over their full frequency range and finally matched in pairs by computer. After the computer-matching process Burmester guarantee that the overall frequency deviation between left and right speaker is less than 0.5 dB! With this procedure Burmester can guarantee the technical specs of the speakers for a long time since they are broken in and, hence, do not change characteristics when used by the customer.

Cabinet Construction:

* Double-walled enclosure with extremely rigid inner housing and soft dampened outer enclosure to avoid undesirable resonances at the surface of the speaker cabinet
* Bass-reflex woofer enclosure (2 x 60 l volume) with a lower critical frequency of below 30Hz

Special features

The woofers of the B100 radiate from the side of the speaker cabinet towards each other. This configuration has the advantage that undesirable high frequencies emanating from the woofers (partial harmonics) do not reach the listener directly.

Furthermore, facing the woofer cones towards each other produces an additional compression in the bass region without cancellation effect. Ideally, the distance between the speakers should be at least 2.5 m.

Damping

* Bass dampening system at the inside of cabinet walls, no sound deadening wool in the bass enclosure to absorb as little as possible of the back-radiating woofer energy
* The dampening material consists of special felt
* Dampening of the mid-range enclosure with a bit of cotton insulation to absorb the sound radiating from the back of the mid-range driver

Design
A smaller, more affordable version of the Jamo R 909, the new R 907 tower speaker is similarly designed for the true audiophile—but designed to work in situations where space is at a premium. The TR 400 is a refined development of the tremendously successful TAL XM. It is a two-way compact loudspeaker, and manages the brilliant feat of combining the tonal and spatial qualities of the classic compact two-way loudspeaker with the bass underpinning and dynamic deep bass performance of larger floor-standing units to produce a delightful loudspeaker. As with all TL models, the cabinets are extremely stiff and resonance-free, because they are made of a laminated wood material. For the mid-range / deep bass area the phenomenal new GREYCONE® drive unit is employed; this has an extremely low bottom limit frequency with an excellent ability to cope with extreme levels.

In the mid-range this speaker provides an incredibly free, open sound without any hint of coloration. Solid bi-amping terminals, an extremely low-loss crossover unit incorporating a new type of coil offering low saturation and distortion, and an accurately matched bass reflex system - these are the essential features of this faultless little loudspeaker.

Bass / mid-range driver
For the two-way system of the TL series speakers we have developed new bass / mid-range drivers which generate a wonderfully free, uncoloured and open mid-range as well as having superb dynamic characteristics in the bass range. These units are also fitted with cones made of GREYCONE®, which is a completely new development.

It consists of air-dried wood fibres and graphite particles, and this amorphous material is extremely stiff and highly damped, thereby eliminating the systematic dispersion of carcase sound in the cone. In an effort to prevent any form of resonance and break-up in the mid-range - so crucial to overall sound quality - the cone features carefully defined slots cut in the membrane which are sealed with a special adhesive; this technique not only stiffens the cone, but also prevents any tendency for individual areas to oscillate. The low-profile cone surround has excellent damping characteristics, and guarantees accurate travel behaviour and a perfect roll-off and transition to the mid-range / high-frequency area. The enormous magnet combines beautifully with the strong pressure-cast cradle This unique drive unit ensures that the entire vocal range has an incredibly pleasant, musical character.

Super high-frequency unit
All TL loudspeakers are fitted with our renowned annular super high-frequency unit, although the version in the TC 500 Centre loudspeaker also features a shielded magnet system. T+A was one of the first manufacturers to introduce annular tweeters, and we have worked constantly at developing and improving them since then.

The cones of these drive units are driven centrally, and that is why they are capable of radiating higher frequencies than conventional high-frequency domes. The cone itself is made of coated silk moulded into a curved shape. This makes it very stiff and able to reproduce very high frequencies without decoupling, and on the other hand it completely eliminates the characteristically unpleasant resonance problems suffered by metal and ceramic cones. The unit’s frequency response is more linear, the distortion level low, and the dynamic range enormous; all this is combined with extremely pleasant, transparent reproduction even at exceptionally high levels.

To some extent the TS 300 can be considered as a reduced-scale copy of the large TS 200. Its cabinet is smaller, and so are its two bass drivers. However, the technology and overall design concept are the same, and the sound image of the TS 300 is commensurately impressive; the only compromise is its slightly reduced maximum sound pressure and ultra-low bass capability. Like the larger model, the cabinet is of moulded laminated wood construction, and is therefore totally rigid and resonance-free. The speaker is fitted with the identical ingenious mid-range unit with its slotted GREYCONE® cone, while the bass units also feature GREYCONE® cones and an extremely sophisticated magnet system. As with all models in the TL range, the high-frequency unit is our super annular tweeter.

The sophisticated, double-sided, three-way cross-over unit (FSR) is constructed using components of the very highest quality. Carefully calculated and optimised for optimum cone travel and radiation characteristics, it is also capable of coping effortlessly with extremely high signal levels. The crossover maintains perfect control of the three frequency ranges, and plays a crucial role in the superb sound imaging and radiation characteristics of the entire system.

 

Bass unit
The bass units of the TS 300 and TS 200 have been developed specifically for use as drivers in transmission line loudspeakers. They are fitted with cones made of the new GREYCONE® material, which is a completely new development, unique for this size of cabinet.

This consists of air-dried wood fibres and graphite particles, and this amorphous material is extremely stiff and highly damped, thereby eliminating the systematic dispersion of carcase sound in the cone. The cones also feature an impressed stiffening texture, which eliminates all traces of distortion even when the membrane accelerates at very high rates. The low-profile cone surround has excellent damping characteristics, and endows the drive unit with accurate travel characteristics even over very great amplitudes. The cones’ low resonant frequency is designed to match the transmission line exactly, and helps to generate an enormously deep, dynamic and clean bass, which is unique for this size of cabinet.

Mid-range driver
The mid-range drivers in these speakers are ultra-powerful units offering dynamic characteristics which are usually the preserve of the PA world. They are fitted with completely newly developed cones made of the new GREYCONE® material. It consists of air-dried wood fibres and graphite particles, and this amorphous material is extremely stiff and highly damped, thereby eliminating the systematic dispersion of carcase sound in the cone.

In an effort to prevent any form of resonance and break-up in the mid-range - so crucial to overall sound quality - the cone features carefully defined slots cut in the membrane, which are sealed with a special adhesive; this technique not only stiffens the cone, but also prevents any tendency for individual areas to oscillate. The low-profile cone surround has excellent damping characteristics, and guarantees accurate travel characteristics whilst preventing reflections. A carefully optimised phase plug made of machined aluminium provides excellent dispersion behaviour in the upper frequency range. The enormous magnet system is of sophisticated design, and maintains perfect control over every movement of the cone. This unique drive unit ensures that the entire vocal range has an incredibly pleasant, musical character.

The flagship of the new TL series is the TS 200: a full-size, floor-standing transmission-line speaker. This unique unit reflects in an exemplary manner the philosophy of the entire series in terms of technology and sound quality. All the speaker’s components have been developed from existing proven concepts, but they also incorporate a number of inspired and unique innovations.

The curvature of the cabinets is the key to their attractive appearance, but the three-dimensional sweep of the side panels, and the internal sound ducts of the long transmission line, also endow the carcase with enormous strength and rigidity. The bass units of the TS 300 and TS 200 have been developed specifically for use as drivers in transmission line loudspeakers. They are fitted with cones made of the new GREYCONE® material, which is a completely new development, unique for this size of cabinet.

This consists of air-dried wood fibres and graphite particles, and this amorphous material is extremely stiff and highly damped, thereby eliminating the systematic dispersion of carcase sound in the cone. The cones also feature an impressed stiffening texture, which eliminates all traces of distortion even when the membrane accelerates at very high rates. The low-profile cone surround has excellent damping characteristics, and endows the drive unit with accurate travel characteristics even over very great amplitudes. The cones’ low resonant frequency is designed to match the transmission line exactly, and helps to generate an enormously deep, dynamic and clean bass, which is unique for this size of cabinet.

Mid-range driver
The mid-range drivers in these speakers are ultra-powerful units offering dynamic characteristics which are usually the preserve of the PA world. They are fitted with completely newly developed cones made of the new GREYCONE® material. It consists of air-dried wood fibres and graphite particles, and this amorphous material is extremely stiff and highly damped, thereby eliminating the systematic dispersion of carcase sound in the cone.

In an effort to prevent any form of resonance and break-up in the mid-range - so crucial to overall sound quality - the cone features carefully defined slots cut in the membrane, which are sealed with a special adhesive; this technique not only stiffens the cone, but also prevents any tendency for individual areas to oscillate. The low-profile cone surround has excellent damping characteristics, and guarantees accurate travel characteristics whilst preventing reflections. A carefully optimised phase plug made of machined aluminium provides excellent dispersion behaviour in the upper frequency range. The enormous magnet system is of sophisticated design, and maintains perfect control over every movement of the cone. This unique drive unit ensures that the entire vocal range has an incredibly pleasant, musical character.

Super high-frequency unit
All TL loudspeakers are fitted with our renowned annular super high-frequency unit, although the version in the TC 500 Centre loudspeaker also features a shielded magnet system. T+A was one of the first manufacturers to introduce annular tweeters, and we have worked constantly at developing and improving them since then.

The cones of these drive units are driven centrally, and that is why they are capable of radiating higher frequencies than conventional high-frequency domes. The cone itself is made of coated silk moulded into a curved shape. This makes it very stiff and able to reproduce very high frequencies without decoupling, and on the other hand it completely eliminates the characteristically unpleasant resonance problems suffered by metal and ceramic cones. The unit’s frequency response is more linear, the distortion level low, and the dynamic range enormous; all this is combined with extremely pleasant, transparent reproduction even at exceptionally high levels.

The TCI 3 R is our smallest high-end loudspeaker, but even this small model still features the same extremely sophisticated cabinet construction based on laminated moulded wood. Its depth is relatively large, and this enables it to accommodate a multi-folded transmission line. This neat trick expands the volume available to the bass driver, and generates an unbelievably deep, clean and dry bass. The newly developed 180 mm bass units with their oversize magnets and coils feature carbon fibre cones which are capable of reproducing even the largest peak signals accurately. The lightning-fast mid-range unit is the ideal choice for this small speaker, and the annular super-tweeter is the perfect complement to its qualities.

The speaker’s technical features include separate cross-over units and terminals, and are no less impressive than those of the large floor-standing versions. LGR 10

She's only so little, this compact bookshelf speaker, but she's beautifully endowed - with a high-quality annular tweeter and a 14 cm long-throw bass / mid-range unit. As a result she is just as dynamic, natural and musical as her larger sisters, and it is only in the bass range that she cannot stoop so low nor handle so much power; nevertheless, she offers a beautifully balanced sound image. Thanks to the sophisticated laminated construction technique the cabinets of the Lignum are rigid and totally resonance-free, even through the side walls are only 10 mm thick.

The real wood surfaces are sealed all round - no gaps or edges to interrupt the perfect design. The three hardwood veneers available are cherry, walnut and maple, and they feature an impressive silk-gloss finish thanks to a generous application of high-build lacquer.

LGS 20

There has been much discussion about the two LGS floor-standing loudspeakers: which is the better-looking? - the fully developed LGS 10, or the small LGS 20? Only 12 cm wide, 13 cm deep and 100 cm high, it is perfectly proportioned and sounds much larger than it looks. It offers an excellent bass foundation thanks to its three new, extremely long-throw bass / mid-range drivers. The LGS 10 is a fully developed floor-standing speaker, and is a true beauty: slender, graceful and incredibly well proportioned. Just 15 cm wide, 17 cm deep and only 120 cm tall, the elegant wooden cabinet appears much smaller than it really is. The TALIS series of loudspeakers was introduced to the market for the first time in the year 2000, and immediately set new standards: refined design, superb workmanship and wonderful sound. Every aspect of the loudspeaker maker’s art had to be re-thought in order to generate powerful bass from such extremely slender cabinets, and the successful outcome was only possible through the use of the latest aluminium technology.

The cabinets are manufactured using complex profiled extrusions, which combine thin walls - for large net volumes - with extremely high strength. All covers and plinths take the form of solid aluminium plates. The cabinet surfaces feature durable finishes applied using extremely sophisticated processes.

We have now cautiously revised and improved this successful range, retaining the proven aluminium technology, but with further improvements to the design. Gently rounded front grilles and plinths give the cabinets an even more elegant appearance. The standard finishes are aluminium, black and white, which are a superb match to the latest trends in furnishing. The acoustic characteristics and qualities of the new TALIS loudspeakers offer further significant improvements. Reinforced baffles have enabled us to install recessed, flush-mounted drive units, and the result is a clear enhancement in linearity of frequency response even off-axis, providing a further improvement in the already first-class radiation characteristics in the mid-range.

TLR 20
The Talis TLR 20 is a true mini-speaker, but only in terms of its physical dimensions. Although it is only 10 cm (4") wide, 11 cm (4,4") deep and 23 cm (9,1") tall, it sound like a big speaker even when druve to quite high levels. The high-quality two-way arrangment consists of a bass / mid-range driver with a large magnet and aluminium cone and the annular super-tweeter. A sophisticated crossover with low bass equalisation produces a harmonius and natural sound from this high-quality hardware, and the results really are amazing. The TLR 20 can be used in many different ways: as small Hi-Fi speakers, as rear speakers in a surround system or as a High-End satellite system in conjunction with active subwoofers.
