The D10 is the most unusual SACD player available anywhere in the world; it is an absolute High-End machine, from the case to the valve output stage. The results in terms of sound quality are incredible, and at least equal to the vinyl disc. The D10 is based on a number of components found in the SACD 1245 R, including the disc mechanism, the decoder and the digital section of the quadruple D/A converter. However, the two mains power supply sections of the D10 are much more powerful. For the digital components we employ a secondary switching mains section, with a torroidal transformer which offers excellent stability under load; for the analogue valve output stage we have developed an extremely stable high-voltage mains section which features a reservoir capacity corresponding to more than 100,000 µF with a conventional pre-amplifier.

Quadrupel - D/A - converter
The new converter is unique even by the standards of T+A. The D10 is fitted with no fewer than eight Burr Brown D/A converters - acknowledged as the best of all types. The quadruple converter is a development of the differential converter, reducing uncorrelated converter errors to one quarter, and background noise by 6 dB. The effort invested in this converter layout is immense, but the results are worth it!

As you would expect, a freely programmable signal processor is employed, which means that the machine provides the characteristic T+A switchable oversampling algorithms for CD playback, enabling the user to select the optimum reproduction to suit any particular disc. Our engineers have also developed four-stage oversampling and noise-shaper circuits for SACD playback, which generate different filter gradients and secondary wave suppression, providing a highly effective means of fine-tuning the sound characteristics to match the other links in the equipment chain. The converter stage is followed by an ingenious valve-based output stage. To prevent any danger of the digital section influencing the analogue circuit, these two sections are separated and de-coupled using a unique T+A technique. Opto-couplers transfer the control signals optically, while the latest magnetic, jitter-free iCouplers from Analog Devices are employed for the high-speed data signals. The net result is genuine High-End analogue sound quality both with CD / DVD as well as SACD.

Valve output stage
The really striking aspect of the D10 is the section which follows the converters: its analogue valve-based output and filter stage. The pre-amplifier consists of the extremely linear, low-distortion 12AX7 LPS double triode, while the output stage features the ECC 99 double triode, with its high current delivery capacity.

All the amplification and filtering is carried out by these valves. This concept is totally unique, and ensures that all the machine’s sound characteristics are determined by the valves - they are not just there for show! With the ECC 99 we have also succeeded in keeping the output resistance to below 100 Ohm. This is a sensational value for a valve pre-amplifier, and we think it must be a record! The DSD process used for SACD inevitably generates increased background noise in the region above about 40 kHz, and not all amplifiers can cope with this. In the simplest case the amplifier simply becomes very warm, but in many cases the amplifier also generates intermodulation effects or other distortion products, and these can have an adverse and extremely disturbing effect in the audible frequency range. One solution for us would have been to limit the frequency response of the player to the lowest common denominator, in order to cope with amplifiers of moderate quality, and this would certainly have been the safe route. However, we were not content with this, so we decided to equip the D10’s valve output stage with a means of switching the bandwidth between 60 kHz and 120 kHz. By this means it is possible to set up the player to match any amplifier very accurately, and there is no need to forfeit anything in terms of frequency response and phase linearity where a good, wide-bandwidth amplifier is used. Naturally all T+A amplifiers are an excellent match for the machine.

Mechanical system
The mechanical construction of the machine maintains the same philosophy and superb quality as the other V-series components. The combination of solid aluminium and special high-quality acrylic is visually extremely pleasing, and gives superb results in audio terms.

The high mass of the metal and the damping effect of the acrylic ensure that the top-loader disc mechanism is totally de-coupled and isolated from the outside world. The components of the top-loader are machined and turned from solid blocks of aluminium.

The complex cover sealing ring is turned from a single piece of metal, and bonded permanently to the acrylic plate. This design provides outstanding damping and absolute freedom from resonance effects, as well as sealing the disc hermetically from the environment.

T+A elektroakustik GmbH has been in existence for 25 years, and we have been building amplifiers and valve output stages since 1984 - so we can certainly claim to have plenty of experience in this field. To celebrate our anniversary year we have decided to develop a unique range of superb new products, and introduce a new High-End series for audiophile fans of classic two-channel reproduction. The V 10 valve-based integrated amplifier is the first in this series, to be followed by the G 10 vinyl disc player.

Naturally our aim in developing the V 10 was - once again - to set entirely new standards. This integrated amplifier features a range of technologies which have never been seen before in valve-based amplifiers.

High output power is a fundamental necessity in our view, but not at the cost of hideous case designs and Utopian expense. We found the solution to this conundrum in new valve types which have never been used before, in combination with an ingenious circuit design which we have termed SPPP (Single Primary Push Pull). This eliminates the symmetry problems in the output transducers [Uebertrager] of conventional valve amplifiers.

A crucially important factor to our developers was the stability of the amplifier's sound qualities and technical performance in practical daily usage. The problem here is the valves themselves: on the one hand individual examples from normal production vary enormously, and on the other the valves are very sensitive in operation and suffer inevitable ageing effects. To overcome these problems we have again introduced measures which we believe to be unique: all valves are subjected to a sophisticated selection process, and only the units exhibiting the closest tolerances are approved for use in our amplifiers. At the same time a micro-processor constantly monitors all the system's operational parameters, such as signal levels, currents and overload margins. All the device's activities are recorded by a form of dynamic counter, and this information is used to calculate the residual run-time of the valves, so that the valves can be replaced in good time in order to maintain the amplifier's sound quality. The normal useful life of the valve set is in the range 3000 to 5000 hours, depending on load and stress levels. For example, a cold start shortens the valves' lives more than switching on after the pre-warming phase. Idle current levels can be displayed at any time.

he mechanical construction and case design of an amplifier of this type must fulfil the most exacting requirements. Any hint of mechanical jolting or vibration has a significant adverse effect on sound quality. For this reason the basic cradle is of strong steel construction, mounted on four shock absorbers. The external aluminium components are of sandwich construction since this provides better damping of body sound, while the thick acrylic panel suppresses and absorbs vibration and prevents microphony effects. The transducers, the main transformer and the output stage capacitors are encapsulated in solid aluminium containers which prevent resonance effects and effectively disperse generated heat.

The TR 400 is a refined development of the tremendously successful TAL XM. It is a two-way compact loudspeaker, and manages the brilliant feat of combining the tonal and spatial qualities of the classic compact two-way loudspeaker with the bass underpinning and dynamic deep bass performance of larger floor-standing units to produce a delightful loudspeaker. As with all TL models, the cabinets are extremely stiff and resonance-free, because they are made of a laminated wood material. For the mid-range / deep bass area the phenomenal new GREYCONE® drive unit is employed; this has an extremely low bottom limit frequency with an excellent ability to cope with extreme levels.

In the mid-range this speaker provides an incredibly free, open sound without any hint of coloration. Solid bi-amping terminals, an extremely low-loss crossover unit incorporating a new type of coil offering low saturation and distortion, and an accurately matched bass reflex system - these are the essential features of this faultless little loudspeaker.

Bass / mid-range driver
For the two-way system of the TL series speakers we have developed new bass / mid-range drivers which generate a wonderfully free, uncoloured and open mid-range as well as having superb dynamic characteristics in the bass range. These units are also fitted with cones made of GREYCONE®, which is a completely new development.

It consists of air-dried wood fibres and graphite particles, and this amorphous material is extremely stiff and highly damped, thereby eliminating the systematic dispersion of carcase sound in the cone. In an effort to prevent any form of resonance and break-up in the mid-range - so crucial to overall sound quality - the cone features carefully defined slots cut in the membrane which are sealed with a special adhesive; this technique not only stiffens the cone, but also prevents any tendency for individual areas to oscillate. The low-profile cone surround has excellent damping characteristics, and guarantees accurate travel behaviour and a perfect roll-off and transition to the mid-range / high-frequency area. The enormous magnet combines beautifully with the strong pressure-cast cradle This unique drive unit ensures that the entire vocal range has an incredibly pleasant, musical character.

Super high-frequency unit
All TL loudspeakers are fitted with our renowned annular super high-frequency unit, although the version in the TC 500 Centre loudspeaker also features a shielded magnet system. T+A was one of the first manufacturers to introduce annular tweeters, and we have worked constantly at developing and improving them since then.

The cones of these drive units are driven centrally, and that is why they are capable of radiating higher frequencies than conventional high-frequency domes. The cone itself is made of coated silk moulded into a curved shape. This makes it very stiff and able to reproduce very high frequencies without decoupling, and on the other hand it completely eliminates the characteristically unpleasant resonance problems suffered by metal and ceramic cones. The unit’s frequency response is more linear, the distortion level low, and the dynamic range enormous; all this is combined with extremely pleasant, transparent reproduction even at exceptionally high levels.

To some extent the TS 300 can be considered as a reduced-scale copy of the large TS 200. Its cabinet is smaller, and so are its two bass drivers. However, the technology and overall design concept are the same, and the sound image of the TS 300 is commensurately impressive; the only compromise is its slightly reduced maximum sound pressure and ultra-low bass capability. Like the larger model, the cabinet is of moulded laminated wood construction, and is therefore totally rigid and resonance-free. The speaker is fitted with the identical ingenious mid-range unit with its slotted GREYCONE® cone, while the bass units also feature GREYCONE® cones and an extremely sophisticated magnet system. As with all models in the TL range, the high-frequency unit is our super annular tweeter.

The sophisticated, double-sided, three-way cross-over unit (FSR) is constructed using components of the very highest quality. Carefully calculated and optimised for optimum cone travel and radiation characteristics, it is also capable of coping effortlessly with extremely high signal levels. The crossover maintains perfect control of the three frequency ranges, and plays a crucial role in the superb sound imaging and radiation characteristics of the entire system.

The cones’ low resonant frequency is designed to match the transmission line exactly, and helps to generate an enormously deep, dynamic and clean bass, which is unique for this size of cabinet.

In an effort to prevent any form of resonance and break-up in the mid-range - so crucial to overall sound quality - the cone features carefully defined slots cut in the membrane, which are sealed with a special adhesive; this technique not only stiffens the cone, but also prevents any tendency for individual areas to oscillate. A carefully optimised phase plug made of machined aluminium provides excellent dispersion behaviour in the upper frequency range. The flagship of the new TL series is the TS 200: a full-size, floor-standing transmission-line speaker. This unique unit reflects in an exemplary manner the philosophy of the entire series in terms of technology and sound quality. All the speaker’s components have been developed from existing proven concepts, but they also incorporate a number of inspired and unique innovations.

The curvature of the cabinets is the key to their attractive appearance, but the three-dimensional sweep of the side panels, and the internal sound ducts of the long transmission line, also endow the carcase with enormous strength and rigidity. The line is damped using a special absorber foam which eliminates all undesired resonances, allowing the speaker to achieve an exceptionally low bottom limit frequency.

The two potent bass units have been matched with great precision to the transmission line, and their unique GREYCONE® cones generate an accurate, unbelievably low, high-pressure bass.

The mid-range driver is a clever design which provides complete mastery of the entire vocal range from 200 to 2000 Hz. In an effort to prevent any form of resonance and break-up in the mid-range - so crucial to overall sound quality - the cone features carefully defined slots cut in the membrane, which are sealed with a special adhesive; this technique not only stiffens the cone, but also prevents any tendency for individual areas to oscillate. The low-profile cone surround has excellent damping characteristics, and guarantees accurate travel characteristics whilst preventing reflections. A carefully optimised phase plug made of machined aluminium provides excellent dispersion behaviour in the upper frequency range. The enormous magnet system is of sophisticated design, and maintains perfect control over every movement of the cone. This unique drive unit ensures that the entire vocal range has an incredibly pleasant, musical character.

All TL loudspeakers are fitted with our renowned annular super high-frequency unit, although the version in the TC 500 Centre loudspeaker also features a shielded magnet system. T+A was one of the first manufacturers to introduce annular tweeters, and we have worked constantly at developing and improving them since then.

The cones of these drive units are driven centrally, and that is why they are capable of radiating higher frequencies than conventional high-frequency domes. The cone itself is made of coated silk moulded into a curved shape. This makes it very stiff and able to reproduce very high frequencies without decoupling, and on the other hand it completely eliminates the characteristically unpleasant resonance problems suffered by metal and ceramic cones. The unit’s frequency response is more linear, the distortion level low, and the dynamic range enormous; all this is combined with extremely pleasant, transparent reproduction even at exceptionally high levels.

The TC 500 is a particularly versatile loudspeaker: although its primary purpose is as a Centre unit, it also forms an excellent compact loudspeaker when stood on end. We have deliberately developed this speaker concentrating on broad dynamic range and an ability to handle high levels,

since these characteristics are the key to optimum speech intelligibility - an absolute must in a high-quality surround system. At the same time we placed emphasis on reasonable overall dimensions whilst maintaining high levels of performance.

It is a fact that excessively large Centre units often present real problems in speaker positioning, and that is why we were determined to develop a Centre speaker capable of exploiting to the full the quality potential of high-quality digital surround systems, whilst still maintaining relatively small dimensions.

The TC 500 is equipped with a pair of 150 mm bass / mid-range units with cones made of GREYCONE®, which is a completely new development. These are based on the superior drivers employed in the TR 400, but in electro-magnetically shielded form - as is the annular tweeter. These drive units feature superb mid-range reproduction in particular, remaining totally clean, intelligible and distortion-free even at the highest levels, together with a low bass response of impressive quality. These are exactly the characteristics required of an effective Centre speaker, and they also make the TC 500 a genuine full-range loudspeaker capable of reproducing even the lowest frequencies at high levels. Since the design philosophy of the TL loudspeakers is the same for all models, the TC 500 can be combined with any other speakers in the range to form a surround system. However, it is certainly possible to use two TC 500 for the front speakers, two more for the rear, and one for the Centre in a 5.1 digital surround system.

Bass / mid-range driver
For the two-way system of the TL series speakers we have developed new bass / mid-range drivers which generate a wonderfully free, uncoloured and open mid-range as well as having superb dynamic characteristics in the bass range. These units are also fitted with cones made of GREYCONE®, which is a completely new development.

It consists of air-dried wood fibres and graphite particles, and this amorphous material is extremely stiff and highly damped, thereby eliminating the systematic dispersion of carcase sound in the cone. The TW 600 is a completely new development in active sub-woofers, based on our TCI High-End active loudspeakers. Our switching output stages are an in-house development, and are of discrete construction (we don’t use ready-made ‘off the peg’ chips). They have proved extraordinarily effective in practice: their dynamic characteristics and speed are unexcelled, as are their power reserves and sound qualities.

The TW 600 is also fitted with the sophisticated cone regulation system of the TCI, which controls the lower limit frequency of the two bass systems as well as the cone travel. By this means we have achieved a quality of low bass reproduction at really high levels that would not be possible in any other way. The active unit offers many sensible set-up facilities, such as variable limit frequencies, continuous level regulation and phase governing, protective circuitry, an automatic power-on circuit and a processor which controls the filters perfectly in stereo and surround mode (SC link) when used in conjunction with other T+A equipment. The TW 600 makes your home cinema set-up into a system which will shake your very foundations!

The Bass unit
The bass units of the TW 600 are of the same design and construction as the active bass drivers used in the TCI. Their job is to convert the enormous power and dynamics of the potent output stage into sound, and to do so cleanly and without distortion. For this reason they feature cooled actuator systems and extremely strong, rigid, distortion-free cones made of solid aluminium. They are capable of enormous linear travels, and are true giants!

The tweeters of the TCI models are recessed in the sculpted baffle, and this provides a significant improvement in their spatial imaging and phase characteristics.

The TCI 3 R is our smallest high-end loudspeaker, but even this small model still features the same extremely sophisticated cabinet construction based on laminated moulded wood. Its depth is relatively large, and this enables it to accommodate a multi-folded transmission line. This neat trick expands the volume available to the bass driver, and generates an unbelievably deep, clean and dry bass. The newly developed 180 mm bass units with their oversize magnets and coils feature carbon fibre cones which are capable of reproducing even the largest peak signals accurately. The lightning-fast mid-range unit is the ideal choice for this small speaker, and the annular super-tweeter is the perfect complement to its qualities.

The speaker’s technical features include separate cross-over units and terminals, and are no less impressive than those of the large floor-standing versions. The TCI W2 is T+As new active sub-woofer with two newly developed 260 mm bass drivers, designed specifically for use in sub-woofers. The extremely rigid cast magnesium driver cradles support gigantic magnets which ensure good efficiency even at very low frequencies. The cone is made of 3 mm thick aluminium, ensuring complete freedom from distortion even at very large movements and acceleration levels. LGR 10

She's only so little, this compact bookshelf speaker, but she's beautifully endowed - with a high-quality annular tweeter and a 14 cm long-throw bass / mid-range unit. As a result she is just as dynamic, natural and musical as her larger sisters, and it is only in the bass range that she cannot stoop so low nor handle so much power; nevertheless, she offers a beautifully balanced sound image. Thanks to the sophisticated laminated construction technique the cabinets of the Lignum are rigid and totally resonance-free, even through the side walls are only 10 mm thick.

The real wood surfaces are sealed all round - no gaps or edges to interrupt the perfect design. The three hardwood veneers available are cherry, walnut and maple, and they feature an impressive silk-gloss finish thanks to a generous application of high-build lacquer.

LGS 20

There has been much discussion about the two LGS floor-standing loudspeakers: which is the better-looking? - the fully developed LGS 10, or the small LGS 20? Only 12 cm wide, 13 cm deep and 100 cm high, it is perfectly proportioned and sounds much larger than it looks. It offers an excellent bass foundation thanks to its three new, extremely long-throw bass / mid-range drivers. The superb annular tweeter in the D’Apolito position ensures that its performance in the mid / high-frequency area does not lag behind that of its large sister in any way, and its imaging characteristics and lively character are equally impressive. The high-quality, accurately calculated and carefully optimised crossover unit ensures excellent radiation behaviour over the full frequency range.

The LGS 10 is a fully developed floor-standing speaker, and is a true beauty: slender, graceful and incredibly well proportioned. Just 15 cm wide, 17 cm deep and only 120 cm tall, the elegant wooden cabinet appears much smaller than it really is. For the first time we have succeeded in developing such slim and finely moulded loudspeaker cabinets using genuine timber. Based on the manufacturing process developed for the cabinets of our high-end TCI series, the new LIGNUM speakers are also made of laminated beech. TLR 20
The Talis TLR 20 is a true mini-speaker, but only in terms of its physical dimensions. Although it is only 10 cm (4") wide, 11 cm (4,4") deep and 23 cm (9,1") tall, it sound like a big speaker even when druve to quite high levels. The high-quality two-way arrangment consists of a bass / mid-range driver with a large magnet and aluminium cone and the annular super-tweeter. A sophisticated crossover with low bass equalisation produces a harmonius and natural sound from this high-quality hardware, and the results really are amazing. The TLR 20 can be used in many different ways: as small Hi-Fi speakers, as rear speakers in a surround system or as a High-End satellite system in conjunction with active subwoofers.

TLS 20
The Talis TLS 20 is the latest and smallest of the family. Unbelievably slim and delicatelooking, the TLS l is still a solid main or surround Speaker. The cabinet is barely over 11 cm (4.4 ") wide, just 12 cm (4.8 ") deep and 100 cm (39.4 ") high, but it radiales a truly sparkling sound image. Three newly develo-ped bass / mid-range drivers with extremely long voice coils, high-strength aluminium — cones and powerfui magnets generate an impressively rieh bass, and are also capable of handling enormous levels cleanly and with absolute precision. Two of these süperb drivers are employed äs the bass / mid-range units, positioned around the new annular tweeter in the D'Apolito arrange-ment; the lower one acting purely äs a bass unit. The drive unit layout is the key to this magic box's süperb imaging capability, wide dynamic ränge, tremendous peak handling characteristics and natural, lively character. The aluminium cabinet is extremely hard and rigid, but comprehensive damping measures have been applied to render it entirely devoid of cabinet resonances and any hint of metallic coloration. Its narrow baffle is ideal for producing a good radiation pattern and süperb spatial imaging.

The sophisticated crossover unit is based on extremely low-loss components, and makes an important contribution to the Speakers' high efficiency and superior peak signal handling characteristics. Optionally the TLS 20 can also be supplied äs an active Speaker, the TLS 20A. The base pla-tes are the same colour äs the cabinets.

TLS 10
The Talis TLS 10 the latest and largest floor-standing model of the family, and a glance at its actual dimensions quickly gives you a clear idea how relative the term "large" is. The cabinet is not even 15 cm (5.9 ") wide, just 17 cm (6.8") deep and over 120 cm (47.2")high, but it radiates an image in sound which is truly large in nature. Four newly developed bass / mid-range drivers with extremely long voice coils. high-strength aluminium cones and powerful magnets generate a rieh. deep bass, and are also capable of handling enormous levels cleanly and with absolute precision. Two of these Superlative drivers are wired äs bass units, while the two upper ones in the D'Apolito arrangement handle the füll bass / mid-range area. The annular treble unit of the Criterion series, which has been so widely acciaimed, is employed here, and makes an important contribution to the dynamic and lively character of this exceptional Speaker. The aluminium cabinet is extremely hard and rigid, but comprehensive damping mea-sures have been applied to render it entirely devoid of body resonances and any hint of metallic coloration. Its narrow baffle is ideal for producing a good radiation pattern and wonderful spatial imaging.

The sophisticated crossover unit is based on extremely low-loss components, and makes an important contribution to the Speakers' high efficiency and superior peak signal handling characteristics. A special low-bass equalisa-tion circuit significantly extends the spea-ker's lower limit frequency and maximum — load-handling capacity. Optionally the TLS 10 can also be supplied äs an active Speaker; this is known äs the TLS 10 A. TLP 10
The Talis TLP 10 is a true multi-talent, as it can be employed as a Hi-Fi speaker, a centre speaker or a panel loudspeaker in a conventional stereo system, in a home cinema set-up or a surround system. The TLP 10 is only 11 cm deep, making it ideal for positioning adjacent to fl at-screen televisions, yet its effective volume is relatively large thanks to its aluminium cabinet. The two 14 cm bass / mid-range units can handle extremely high levels whilst producing a very clean, dynamic sonic image. In conjunction with the super annular tweeter these drive units generate a very open, clearly defined sound stage. This is very important for good voice reproduction and comprehensibility of speech. These characteristics make it an ideal loudspeaker for digital surround systems; it can be used both as main and rear loudspeakers, and also as the centre unit. For the latter application it should be set up as close to the television set as possible (for which reason its powerful magnets are thoroughly shielded), where it is responsible for the clear reproduction of human voices.

TLW 2 A
The TLW 2 A active sub-woofer is one of the most impressive and best-looking loudspeakers to be found in our range. It is simply incredible how clean and natural the bass generated by this small sub-woofer can be, and how hard it can be driven. A solid aluminium cabinet of sheer elegance (incidentally resistant to ornamental plants) houses two dynamic and two parasitic speakers, driven by a completely new active unit offering 320 Watts continuous power. The drive units are unique: gigantic magnets acting upon heavy aluminium cones, capable of producing powerful pressure waves at very low frequencies. As in the R-series, the active unit is equipped with discrete output stages for superb sound quality, and has more than enough power to generate enormous levels.

The TALIS series of loudspeakers was introduced to the market for the first time in the year 2000, and immediately set new standards: refined design, superb workmanship and wonderful sound. Every aspect of the loudspeaker maker’s art had to be re-thought in order to generate powerful bass from such extremely slender cabinets, and the successful outcome was only possible through the use of the latest aluminium technology.

The cabinets are manufactured using complex profiled extrusions, which combine thin walls - for large net volumes - with extremely high strength. All covers and plinths take the form of solid aluminium plates. The cabinet surfaces feature durable finishes applied using extremely sophisticated processes.

We have now cautiously revised and improved this successful range, retaining the proven aluminium technology, but with further improvements to the design. Gently rounded front grilles and plinths give the cabinets an even more elegant appearance. The standard finishes are aluminium, black and white, which are a superb match to the latest trends in furnishing. The acoustic characteristics and qualities of the new TALIS loudspeakers offer further significant improvements. Reinforced baffles have enabled us to install recessed, flush-mounted drive units, and the result is a clear enhancement in linearity of frequency response even off-axis, providing a further improvement in the already first-class radiation characteristics in the mid-range.

TLW 4 A
When the TLW 4A active subwoofer goes off, it makes your hair curl. Two extremly long-throw 26 cm (10,4") cast magnesium bass drivers and a new power amplifier produce an extremly clean, low-frequency, high presure bass which shakes you to the core. Occuoiers of old multi-storey appartments: be warned. Down to 25 Hz and below it sends its high- calibre pressure waves pulsation right through the house. You will hardly see the subwoofer, but you can not be unaware of the sound it makes. Our new active unit, generating more than 320 Watts nominal power into 4 Ohms, is exactly the right driving force for the missile, and it gives our small TLS 20 and TLR 20 speakers the presure and bass volume which even large floor-standing speakers cannot match. The TLW 4A is the only model in the Talis series which is made of laminated wood instead of aluminium.
