The brand new, Classic Line CD-Player 061 is the "little brother" of Burmester's world-renowned CD Player 001 and closes the gap between the Top Line CD-Player 001 and the Rondo Line CD-Player 052.
The 061 excites listeners with an extraordinary sound, warm musicality and, at the same time, its wealth of detail at once inspire and impress listeners. The perfect interplay between the modified, top-loading Philips transport, the upsampling function to 96/192 KHz, digital inputs and the elaborate analog filters should be an unbeatable combination among CD-Players on the world market today.
With his Top-Loader mechanism, the 061 now comes in the housing of the world-renowend 001 CD-Player. Of course the 061 is equipped -like all Burmester units- with balanced and unbalanced outputs, in order to fully take avantage of the technology mentioned above. It also features the new BurLink® (optional) with RS-232 and USB2.0 ports to integrate the 061 in Home Automation Systems like Crestron, AMX and others. In addtion, future software updates for the 061 can be uploaded over BurLink®.
Transport unit:
- In principle, the 061 is the "little brother" of the CD Player 001 with the same Top-Loader machanism (however, without the much more sophisticated belt drive.)
- The software for the transport control has been completely developed in-house by Burmester Audiosysteme.
- The transport unit of the 061 is controlled by a high-precision oscillator similar to that in the 969/979; it is characterized by high thermal stability and extremely low phase noise.

The CD Player 001 uses the same state-of-the-art technologies as the no-compromise transport/converter combinations 969/970 and 979/980 which are renowned as the world's best CD playback systems.
The 001 provides an extraordinary audiophile experience that hitherto could only be expected from Burmesters large transport/converter combos 969/970 and 979/980. Its warm musicality and, at the same time, its wealth of detail inspire and impress listeners at once. The perfect interplay between belt drive, upsampling function to 96/24 bit with the appropriate sampling rate and variable analog filters looks like an unbeatable combination among CD players on the world market today.
The features of this technological power-pack are are rounded out by an analog pre-amp output, programmeable as fixed or variable. This output, of course, is also fully balanced, its polarity is switcheable in the digital domain.

The successor for Burmesters world-renowned but now retired combo of 969 Reference Belt-Drive CD Transport and D/A Converter 970 represents the top of the line in Burmesters digital playback systems. With state of the art technology, Burmester Audiosysteme has built a CD-player which is cutting edge in musicality and natural sound reproduction from CD.
Product Description and Technical Data:
Burmester Audiosysteme is the high-end company that conceived the world’s first belt-drive CD transport (the Burmester 916) and introduced it during the Berlin Consumer Electronics Show 1991. It now presents its masterpiece, the Reference CD –Player 069. It is based on the Philips CD2 PRO laser technology and manufactured in Berlin. The 069 completely eliminates all weaknesses of digital pickup systems which, up to now, audiophiles had to work around with expensive aftermarket add-ons.
By using a belt drive and mechanical de-coupling of the drive unit, the 069 insulates the sampling process from all external interferences. Furthermore, a newly developed high-precision oscillators (96 and 192 kHz) with minimal phase noise and high thermal stability provides a digital output signal with extremely low jitter. The oscillator functions as the system clock and also as the low-jitter clock for the Sample Rate Converter (SRC). The result is a perfect digital replication of the analog waveshape.
Why a belt-drive system?
Almost all available CD transports on the world market use direct-drive systems, i.e. CD platter, spindle and motor are a firmly fixed unit. Furthermore, most motors are cheesy little things running on cheap bearings and cannot guarantee a smooth rotation. Motor cogging as well as vibrations and mechanical resonance are transmitted directly to the platter and, hence, to the CD. This renders a faultless sampling by the laser pickup impossible. As a result, small parts of the signal are lost. These are the parts that the human ear translates as spatial image, focus and musical accuracy. Therefore, digital playback was criticized as “two-dimensional” and “synthetic.” This was proven right already in previous models like the 969 and 979 CD-Transports and also in the 001 CD-Player which still is a benchmark.
Since, for obvious reasons, direct-drive systems never made it in analog turntables, in 1990 Dieter Burmester developed the belt-drive principle for CD transports and designed the first belt-driven CD-transport, with the 916, in 1991. Since 1995 the belt-drive mechanisms are now produced in house by Burmester Audiosysteme.
The advantages of a belt-driven transport are, on the one hand, that the digital pickup is completely de-coupled from interferences from the motor drive. On the other hand, it also promotes the use of beefier motors and spindles as well as heavy stabilizers for fly-wheel effect. The CD platter of the 069 sits on a 4 mm-thick spindle which rotates in a precision bearing with no more than three thousandths of a millimeter play (the bearing in the CD platter shows the same play as the spindle). This guarantees an absolutely smooth rotation without cogging, bearing play or vibrations and resonance. Hence, the sampling process is not subject to any mechanical jitter.
Why a double-chamber housing system?
The drive rests firmly in a double-chamber housing system to further de-couple it from mechanical and acoustical interferences such as footfall and sound waves from the speakers. The housing of the drive unit is made of 10 mm-thick aluminum plates and weighs 58.5 lbs (!). To further increase the 069’s interference immunity, the spike feet of the outer housing rest on a carbon fiber suspension as part of its own base. The external Powersupply of the 069 also weighs app. 28.5 lbs.
Is changing rotational speed compatible with belt drive?
In contrast to analog LPs which rotate during playback in constant angular velocity, the CD must rotate in constant line velocity. That means that in order to obtain a steady data stream during the sampling process, the rotational speed of the CD must be continually reduced since the circumference of the ‘grooves’ that the pickup traces increases from the inside to the outside.
Ensuring the correct rotational speed at any point of the sampling process has been the greatest challenge in designing a belt-driven CD transport. It was met by developing a highly sophisticated microprocessor-based control unit. Its calculations take into account all variables of the drive unit such as motor, belt, precision spindle and stabilizer and guarantees the absolutely smooth rotation of the CD. Besides the low torque motor, a top Swiss product manufactured to Burmesters specifications, the precision spindle and bearing are of a level of quality that no other standard CD transport approaches.

96kHz 24 bit upsampling / upconverting:
The Sample Rate Converter (SRC) of the 980 DAC upconverts all incoming digital signals to 96kHz/24bit. This function can be activated by switching in the MAXRESO (Maximum Resolution Filter) which also switches the D/A converters to the higher resolution rate.
When using the 980 in clock synchronization mode (SYNC mode) with the transport the clock frequency is determined by the 44.1kHz of the CD.
A short description of the SRC principle:
Raising the clock frequency from 44.1 kHz to 96 kHz creates additional bits which exceed the 16bit word length. These fractions are no longer rounded down to 16bit but instead are processed at the new 24bit word length. This extremely complex computation has been made possible through the use of the latest Digital Signal Processor (DSP). This nifty device allows a higher sampling rate (upsampling) and, at the same time, a greater word length (upconverting). Hence, with the SRC function's higher resolution resolution it is possible to digitally map the analog music signal much more accurately.
Precision oscillator:
A high-precision ultra-stable oscillator provides the system clock frequency for the conversion stages of the 980 and - via the supplied clock link cable - for the CD transports 969 or 979 as well. The oscillator is characterized not only by high thermal stability but also by an extremely low phase noise. The oscillator is kept at a steady temperature.
Variable output:
Directly controls the volume output of the power amps in 60 steps
Clock rate update in several of the 980 SRC's stages:
Re-clocks the digital signal back to the original clock rate to reduce jitter to the technically feasible minimum.
Housing:
The 980 SRC like all Burmester TOP-LINE comes in a housing crafted from aluminum plates of 3mm and 10mm thickness, respectively. This combined with carbon fiber suspension of the feet very effectively insulates the 980 SRC from external resonances.
Power supply:
The integrated power supply of the 980 SRC with its filter capacitance of app. 40000µF provides ultra-clean power; steep-slope HF filters provide extremely clean DC voltage.
The various stages of the 980 SRC have been additionally de-coupled from electrical interferences that could emanate from the supply voltage.
Converter modules:
Fully balanced conversion with four independent converter modules. Maximum resolution: 96kHz/24bit and every format with lower resolution. Special feature: The digital section of the 980 SRC like the 970 Reference DAC is balanced front to back! (This circuitry has been used by Burmester since 1991, first in the classic 920 DAC).

The 033 DVD player is Burmester's first video player and it sports many of the same features as the 006 and 001 CD players. Burmester's design goal for the 033 was that multi-channel video playback from DVDs as well as two-channel music reproduction from CDs should be of equally uncompromising quality.
The 033 impresses with extraordinary full musical sound which until now had only been achieved by Burmester's top-of-the-line transport/DAC-combos 969/970 and 979/980 as well as Burmesters CD players 001 and 006. Musical warmth, focus and detail immediately enthrall the listener. The combination of a modified Philips DVD transport, the 96/24-bit upsampling function with corresponding conversion and sophisticated analog filters could hardly be topped by any other DVD player on the world market today.
Like all other Burmester components the 033 offers, of course, balanced outputs to take full advantage of its musical capabilities. The 033 comes in Burmesters standard housing of 340 mm depth (which is used from Rondo to Reference in all Burmester product lines) and in comparison to the competition it offers a more sophisticated power supply section. Its power supply is almost identical to that in the 001.
The 033 offers upsampling to 96kHz/24-bit for all incoming signals on all three digital inputs, no matter if their sampling rate is 33kHz, 44,1kHz or 48kHz. A digital sound processor may be looped-in using digital in- or outputs. The switch to activate this function is located inside the housing.

D-VCD and D-SVCD are not standard formats. By not following specifications in several ways these discs contain more data than the standard allows. Most of the available discs play. However, since the deviation from the standard in individual cases is not known Burmester cannot guarantee that discs will work flawlessly in all cases.

Since 1999 the Rondo Line has been the entry level of Burmester high-end audio systems. The Integrated Amplifier 051 is now destined to carry on the great success of the first Rondo Integrated Amp 991. The 051 has been developed from the ground up following in the footsteps of its "big brother", the Integrated Amp 032.
As in the past, the front panels of all components in the Rondo line have been designed to complement each other. They have the same unique features like the round displays. All displays and control knobs and buttons are placed in exactly the same pattern. This design creates an overarching harmony in the appearance of the Rondo components and also inspired the name of the line. This product line like all Burmester components is being hand-crafted in Berlin. Certain typical features of Burmester components which have proven their worth in the REFERENCE Line, TOP Line and CLASSIC Line (formerly the Basic Line) can also be found in the 051.
All Rondo components complement each other to create a system of great harmony – but they are, of course, also individually available and outstanding performers by themselves. They represent the perfect extension to Burmesters Classic and Top Line product catalogue. The 051 is fully capable of driving even Burmesters large speakers systems like the B50 or B80.
Description:
The kinship between the Integrated Amp 051 and its big brother 032 of the Classic product line is readily apparent. Like the 032 the 051 has numerous design elements which have originally been developed for top-of-the-line amps like the 911. For example, the 051 sports front-to-back balanced circuitry and is DC coupled. Like all Burmester components the 051 has no distorting capacitors in the signal path. Its high damping factor and rock-solid load stability down to below 2 Ohms derive from a stabilized power supply with a generously dimensioned 450 VA transformer (custom design) and more than 70.000 µF filter capacity.
Based on Burmester’s proprietary X-Amp circuit design the 051 operates to an extended degree in class-A mode. To get the best sound Burmester consciously sacrificed a few watts of nominal power output. Combined with its above mentioned stability and its ability to deal with complex loads - i.e. to deliver large currents if necessary – the 051 is capable of driving practically any known speaker and at the same time excel in musical fidelity.
The 051 offers ultra-stable binding posts for top-of-the-line speaker cables. The posts which are also used for all Burmester speakers can accommodate even massive cable lugs.
Like the 991 and 032 the 051 offers sophisticated tone controls as standard. Tone controls have more and more gained in popularity and together with balance control in 80 steps are parts of the convenience features of the 051. The tone controls may be bridged and thus taken out of the signal path without degrading the sound quality.
The input impedance of the 051’s five inputs can be adjusted in 30 steps within a range of +/- 15dB to complement each other. Simply press and hold the selector button of the desired input and adjust the impedance level using the volume control.
Volume levels are controlled by highest-quality integrated circuits with ideal channel synchronism. This extra effort is required to avoid the undefined sliding contacts of potentiometers and to be able to guarantee channel deviations below 0.2 dB.
The 051 like all Rondo components may be operated as well as switched on and off by remote. The light intensity of the display may be dimmed or completely switched off.
All functions can be controlled externally using the optional BurmesterLink™. BurmesterLink™ is bi-directional and all readouts in the display can be routed through the BurmesterLink™ to connected electronic home systems.

The integrated amplifier 032 comes from the same family of amplifiers as the 909, 911 and 956 MK 2, which have won wide international acclaim. As a derivative from the power amp 956 MK 2 and the pre-amplifier 935 the 032 closes a gap in Burmesters Classic model line.
Like all amplifiers from the Burmester Company the 032 sports balanced design front to back and is completely DC coupled without distorting capacitors in the signal path. The external heat sinks of the 032 have the same unmistakable Burmester design pedigree found in all Burmesters other large amplifiers.
The chrome plate with the controls has been set into the front of the heat sinks. A solid middle plate has been machined from 25 mm thick brass. It surrounds the display and insulates it effectively from all external influence. It also prevents unwanted interferences from radiating to the signal-carrying parts of the amplifier. The big solid tuning knob raises and lowers the volume in both channels identically via an incremental control which is far superior to conventional potentiometers.
Like all Burmester amplifiers the 032 has to pass a number of stringent tests. Even though Burmester use only the very best component parts, Burmester measure and select pairs of every part by computer. After they have been assembled into modules each module is checked in a reference setup. After rough assembly each unit is subjected to a battery of app. 300 computer-aided tests to ensure its compliance with the reference prototype. After that the unit is burnt in at nominal load for a week, after which it is tested again. Only if the second set of measurements is identical to the first will the unit be released for final assembly. Only by this arduous process can Burmester make sure that each 032 fulfills Burmesters promise of high reliability. The final check before packing and shipping is a thorough listening test.
The Concept
The 032 offers balanced circuit design and is completely DC coupled. There are no distorting coupling capacitors in the signal path. An intelligent protection circuit outside of the signal path monitors the working condition for overheating, DC offset and overloading.
A special feature of the 032 is its extremely high damping factor. This high damping factor in connection with the capability to quickly deliver very large currents (rise time at 4 ohms is only 1.5 µS) give the amp a wide response and the ability to effortlessly control virtually any loudspeaker over its full frequency range. With its mighty 650 VA power supply the 032 is able to deliver continuous high currents and thus drive speakers with low impedance and complex loads. The large external heat sinks in typical Burmester design provide optimal cooling. The frequency response is practically load-independent. The sound of the 032 is characterized by excellent spatial resolution, natural musical warmth and negligible distortion.
The transistors of the output stages are connected to the oversized heat sinks at the housing sides via a massive block of copper which guarantees the best heat abortion and dissipation. The driver stages, however, are located on a separate internal heat sink. This keeps wide temperature fluctuations of the power stage heat sinks from affecting the operating points of the driver stages.
Internal wiring for the power supply of the amplification stages and the signal transfer to the speaker terminals of the 032 consists of 10 mm² high-purity copper wire. This makes sure that the high currents of the power amplifier reach the massive output binding posts without loss. For the signal-carrying conductors Burmester consciously did not use copper rails, which have become all the rage recently, to avoid for example any unwanted micro phonic effects
The Sound
The sound of the 032 has been highly praised for its warm musicality yet detailed imaging. The 032 is second to none in its capability to draw minute musical details from the world’s best speakers even at very high volume levels.
Home Theater
The 032 is already prepped for future home theater applications. It offers a home theater through-put circuit which bypasses the preamp-section and routes signals directly to the power amp. In the future, this through-put can also be controlled by the new Burmester Link interface.

At the request of many analog aficionados who have come to expect the ultimate phono section from us Burmester even equipped it with the ideal shellac equalization. Hence, the 011 is worldwide the first preamp with a phono section that allows switching between MC RIAA and shellac (mono) characteristic.
The 011 preamplifier combines the pioneering innovations of the 877 with the design and ergonomics of a preamplifier ready to meet any future challenge. Burmester's top design goal has been to endow the very complex and compact 011 with the same uncompromising sonic qualities that have made the 808 MK5 the unquestioned leader on the world market today.

Pure class-A preamplifier based on Burmester's proprietary X-Amp technology. New: The X-Amp circuitry for the inputs as well as outputs is located on separate piggyback modules.

Of course, the circuitry of the 011 is balanced throughout. It has seven balanced inputs.
Uncompromising dual-mono construction: the circuit boards for left and right channel are stacked on top of each other.
These circuit boards are arranged to achieve the shortest possible signal path and to obviate internal wire connections to the input and output terminals.
The no-compromise IR remote control has been completely adopted from the 808 MK5. Volume is set in 60 logarithmically tuned steps by a passive R-2R network consisting of precision resistors and gold-plated Reed relays. Only this extreme sophistication can guarantee the desired 100 per cent equal channel balance. Switching between signal sources is also done by relays directly at the inputs.
The new metal hand-held remote control is supplied as standard.
The 011 comes standard with a phono module the sound of which is closely related to that of the MC2 module of the 808 MK5.
The channels of the phono section of the 011 are separated and located on the main circuit boards for left and right channel.
Like the MC2 of the 808 MK5, signal processing of the 011 phono module is balanced throughout and completely DC-coupled with discreet construction of the sophisticated circuitry.
The equalization characteristic of the phono module can be switched from MC RIAA to shellac.
All presets of the phono module can be done with a setup function. For example, phono loads can easily be changed to eight different settings (10, 15, 50, 68, 120, 180, 390, 1000W).
The 011 can easily be integrated into a home theater system by routing the signal through the preamp in "surround" mode. A home theater system will be available from Burmester sometime in 2001.
With the view towards home theater systems the 011 has been prepped for the new Burmester link which will support complex remote control applications in large systems.
The power supply of the 011 is a completely new design. The electrical supply of the analog audio stages has been separated from the digitally controlled displays. As a consequence, the 011 sports two separate transformers custom-made to Burmester's specifications.
Analog power supply: 44VA transformer with overall 100.000 µF filtering.
Digital power supply: 33VA transformer with overall 20.000 µF filtering.
Operating modes are indicated on a high-quality dot-matrix display and are easily legible even from some distance away.

The 007 Surround Processor is the first multichannel component by Burmester Audiosystems. This component marks the beginning of a new era. Burmesters goal in designing this unit was to create a processor which is uncompromisingly geared towards delivering the highest sound quality and, at the same time, is easy to use.
In order to achieve these goals, Burmester employed a number of technical features in the 007 which have already been well proven in other Burmester components, such as:

The Burmester stereo power amplifier 036 is a proud descendent of Burmesters internationally highly acclaimed family of power amps 909, 911 and 956. Burmesters reference amp 909 has marked the pinnacle of audio amplification since 1990. Many of the insights gained in designing the 909 have influenced the concept of the 036.
Like all amplifiers from Burmester the 036 is, of course, completely balanced and DC-coupled without any distorting capacitors in the signal path. Also, the 036 sports the same cool-looking heat sinks which Dieter Burmester designed for his bigger amps.
The 036 is a stereo amp. However, all Burmester stereo amps can easily be bridged into mono operation using external mono adapters. If two amps are ordered as a mono pair Burmester will bridge the amps internally at the factory free of charge. The rise time (the quickness of the amp) is the same whether it operates in stereo or mono mode.
Furthermore, Burmester offer bi-amping adapters for using a pair of 036 with speakers that require bi-amping.
All Burmesters amplifiers are run through a long battery of tests to make sure each one conforms to Burmesters reference prototype. After the first computer-aided set of about 300 test measurements the units are burnt-in at nominal load for a week. After that Burmester run a second set of the same computer-aided tests. Only when the two results are identical will a unit be released for a listening test. If this final test meets Burmesters standards the unit will be packed and shipped. By this arduous process of testing and re-testing Burmester want to make sure that each 036 fulfils Burmesters guarantee of reliability and musicality to Burmesters customers.

The Burmester stereo power amplifier 956 MK 2 is a proud descendent of Burmesters internationally highly acclaimed family of power amps 911 and 909. Burmesters reference amp 909 has marked the pinnacle of audio amplification since 1990. Many of the insights gained in designing the 909 have influenced the concept of the 956 MK 2. Like Burmesters legendary pre-amplifier 808 the 956 MK 2 is of modular design with the advantage that older models can easily be upgraded to the latest version.
Like all amplifiers from Burmester the 956 MK 2 is, of course, completely balanced and DC-coupled without any distorting capacitors in the signal path. Also, the 956 MK 2 sports the same cool-looking heat sinks which Dieter Burmester designed for his bigger amps.
The 956 MK 2 like all Burmesters amplifiers is a stereo amp. However, all Burmester stereo amps can easily be bridged into mono operation using external mono adapters. If two amps are ordered as a mono pair Burmester will bridge the amps internally at the factory free of charge. The rise time (the quickness of the amp) is the same whether it operates in stereo or mono mode. Furthermore, Burmester offer bi-amping adapters for using a pair of 956 MK 2 with speakers that require bi-amping.
All Burmesters amplifiers are run through a long battery of tests to make sure each one conforms to Burmesters reference prototype. After the first computer-aided set of about 300 test measurements the units are burnt-in at nominal load for a week. After that Burmester run a second set of the same computer-aided tests. Only when the two results are identical will a unit be released for a listening test. If this final test meets Burmesters standards the unit will be packed and shipped. By this arduous process of testing and re-testing Burmester want to make sure that each 956 MK 2 fulfills Burmesters guarantee of reliability and musicality to Burmesters customers.
The Concept
The 956 MK 2 offers balanced circuitry and it is entirely DC-coupled. There are no distorting capacitors in the signal path. An intelligent protection circuit outside the signal path monitors during operation for overheating, DC offset and overloading.
A special feature of the 956 MK 2 is its extremely high damping factor. This high damping factor coupled with the ability to quickly deliver large amounts of current (rise time at 4W is only 1.5 mS) enable the amp to effortlessly drive virtually any loudspeaker over it's wide frequency response. With its mighty power supply the 956 MK 2 is able to deliver high currents continuously and thus easily control speakers with low impedance values and complex loads. The frequency response is practically load-independent. Very good spacial resolution, natural musical warmth and negligible distortion characterize the sound of the 956 MK 2.
The transistors of the output stages are placed on the oversized heat sinks that form the sides of the housing. The driver stages, however, are located on a separate internal heat sink. This keeps the wide temperature fluctuations of the heat sinks from shifting the working points of the amplification section.
Internal wiring of the 956 MK 2 is done with 10 mm² high-purity copper cable. This ensures that the high currents of the power amplifier reach the massive bindings posts without loss. With respect to signal-carrying conductors Burmester conciously omitted copper rails - which have become all the rage these days - to avoid unwanted microphonic effects.
For the internal connections that carry music signals Burmester use Burmesters electrically and magnetically shielded "Burmester SILVER" cable.
The sound

Upgrades
The new MK 2-version differs from its predecessor mainly by an expanded Class-A operation. Consequently, it gets noticeably warmer. For this upgrade the driver stages on the interior heat sink are changed and the whole amp is completely re-tuned. The new driver stages exhibit a considerably more linear power supply than their predecessors. This clearly improves the sound and lowers harmonic distortion. Additional holes have to be drilled into the bottom of the housing for sufficient airflow to cool these drivers located on the internal heat sinks. In comparison with the MK 1-version the power supply has been re-designed and the resistance lowered further. This is made apparent by the 3mm thick copper rails fixed to the power supply board. These rails connect the large electrolytic capacitors and serve as mass. The result of this extra material expense is a considerably lower internal impedance of the power supply than the 75 mm thick copper on the circuit board.
For internal signal leads Burmester changed the cables to "Burmester SILVER".
The most obvious discriminating feature of the MK 2-version are it's silver anodized housing walls and heat sinks like those of the latest incarnations of the 911 MK 3 and the 909. All 956 MK 1 can be upgraded to a MK 2-version including a new two year warranty. However, the upgrade does not change the housing finish.

Like all Burmester amplifiers the 911 MK 3 is, of course, balanced throughout and completely DC-coupled without any distorting capacitors in the signal path. Like all Burmesters amplifiers the 911 MK 3 is a stereo amp. However, all Burmester stereo amps can easily be bridged into mono operation using external mono adapters. Also, with bi-amping adapters a pair of amps can drive speakers in bi-amping mode.
The new MK 3 version distinguishes itself from its predecessor mainly by its completely re-designed output stages. On the outside it is identified by the looks of its silver anodized housing including the heat sinks. All older MK 1 and 2 versions can be upgraded and receive a new factory warranty. An upgrade entails exchanging the circuit boards of the output stages against the new hardware modules of the MK 3. Furthermore, the interior wiring is completely upgraded to Burmester SILVER for signal-carrying connections. Burmesters new pure silver speaker wire (8mm²) is used for connecting the output boards with the binding posts. The upgrade does not change the housing color, however.

The stereo amplifier 909 is the largest Burmester make and it is one of the most powerful in the world. Since 1990, the 909 represents the pinnacle of power amplification in the audio domain; Burmesters smaller models 911 and 956 are its direct descendants. Like the legendary pre-amplifier 808, the 909 is of modular design. And, like all amplifiers from Burmester, the signal path of the 909 is balanced from front to back as well as DC-coupled.
Like all Burmesters power amplifiers the 909 comes standard as a stereo amp. However, Burmester amps can easily be bridged into mono operation by using an external adapter supplied by us.
The 909 distinguishes itself by an extremly high damping factor. The two Power Conditioners are some of Burmesters most innovative product line. They represent the result of Burmesters many years of basic research. For the method of Power Conditioning applied in the Power Conditioner Burmester were awarded a world patent (No. 44 26 721).
The Power Conditioner 948 is one of Burmesters most successful designs with sales to prove it, and the 038 shall follow it.
It’s outstanding qualities are recognized internationally. The U.S. high end magazine the absolute sound classified it as a five star component and wrote: „The 948 is incomparable and in a class by itself.“
The problem to be solved
Increasing noise pollution in Burmesters power lines renders the AC voltage (nominal 120 volts, 60 Hertz) that comes out of Burmesters wall outlets one of the weakest links in the high end audio chain. Who has not experienced the phenomenon that a music system doesn’t sound as good between six and ten in the evening as it does at midnight? The reason: The power that flows from the wall outlet at midnight is much cleaner than that of a few hours earlier.
What causes this effect? Burmester Audiosystems identified after some basic research a noise component in the power supply that is solely responsible for the sound deterioration. We measured a miniscule direct current of a few milivolts in the AC voltage. Not only was this DC component not supposed to be there it also varied it’s strength over time. As it increased the sound of the system got worse. Available line filters did nothing to deal with this kind of line pollution. This is too bad because a few millivolts of DC are enough to drive amp transformers of any brand to the saturation point which becomes audible as transformer hum. As is widely known, the pure-bred transformers of high end-amplifiers are particularly susceptible to DC components in the power supply.
Special features of the 038: patented active DC suppression
The Power Conditioner 038 functions unlike any other line filter on the world market. Basically, the 038 is a 500 W Power Amplifier that works in parallel with the AC power supply and compensates as an active system any DC components in the 120 volts AC from the wall outlet. Burmesters patented circuit design does not limit the power to the audio system in any way and, thus, allows very powerful amps, including several large mono amps to be hooked up to the 038. With common passive filters this would only be possible at the price of deteriorating sound. The active DC suppression works on all eight outlets of the 038 and it can be switched on and off.
The secret of the 038
The task of the Power Conditioner is, simply stated, to keep the average phase difference of the AC power supply at zero. An average other than zero means that direct current is present in the alternating current of the household power.
Ideal (balanced) AC voltage:
In the phase-plane diagram of the AC voltage the wave shape of the phase alternates around the zero line of the neutral conductor. In an ideal AC power situation the area plotted by the positive half-wave (A) above neutral equals that by the negative half-wave (B) below it. Ideally, the mean value when adding positive and negative areas over time should be zero, indicating that no DC voltage is present.
Unbalanced AC voltage:
There are many electrical loads that absorb more power on one half, positive or negative, of the wave cycle than on the other. This is particularly true for appliances with generalized phase control which do not control the two half-waves identically, such as dimmers, motor Power Controllers, computers, microwaves, TVs or hair dryers which control power to the heating element by connecting a diode in series. Even remote large loads such as heavy electrical equipment on a nearby construction site strongly effect the quality of the AC voltage supply in the power system.
If a load absorbs more power from one half-wave than from the other the voltage drop in the system is larger for the strained half of the wave cycle than for the other. Consequently, the wall outlets of a power system under unbalanced loads will supply AC voltage with a phase-plane diagram in which one half-wave is smaller than the other. In a simplified graph it would look like this:

In an unbalanced AC voltage supply the area plotted by the positive half-wave is unequal the area plotted by the negative half-wave. Their addition renders a value other than zero, meaning the mean of the AC voltage is unequal zero, hence there is a DC component in the power system.
Unbalanced AC voltage and transformers:
A transformer hooked up to an unbalanced AC voltage is constantly carrying direct current. This leads to a strong magnetic bias in its core, the transformer starts to hum. This problem increases the lower the resistance in the windings and the higher the magnetic flux in the core is. In other words, the more powerful and dynamic a transformer is designed the more susceptible it is to DC components in the power system. In good transformers even miniscule DC components of a few 10 mV are audible.
How the Power Conditioner 038 works
The Power Conditioner 038 measures the mean value of the supply voltage and adjusts it to zero by putting additional load onto the larger half-wave. In other words it assures that the voltage drop in the system is identical for the positive and negative half of the wave cycle. Hence, transformers no longer have to cope with direct current and stop humming.
It is important to note that the Power Conditioner works in parallel with the connected audio components and thus avoids an undesirable damping of the voltage supply. This circuit logic is unique on the world market and has been patented by Burmester Audiosystems.
And how does it sound?
A power supply corrected by the Power Conditioner provides the connected audio components with clean and even voltage. The result is a totally open sound. There is more air around voices and instruments, large orchestras and choirs sound natural and unstrained – even at high volumes. The tonal balance of music becomes sweeter.
This improvement, of course, is independent of the time of day. With the 038 an audio system sounds as good all day as it normally sounds only way past midnight, when no spurious loads pollute the power system. We recommend visiting your authorized Burmester dealer and trying a 038 out for several days. It will improve the sound of any brand of audio equipment.
What do other Power Conditioners do?
Many competing products try to keep line noise away from high end audio systems by stabilizing the voltage or synthesizing the supply system. However, this can easily compound the problem by destroying the low resistance of the voltage supply. Only a low-resistance system can supply large amounts of power in the shortest time. Higher resistance limits the overall power of the connected components. This leads to a limp bass reproduction, for example.
The 038 avoids this danger altogether by functioning in parallel to the supply system, meaning that the power does not flow through the Power Conditioning section. The 038 does not work in series with the connected audio components, it effects the voltage supply from the outside, so to speak, without impeding or limiting it.
The 038 is not designed to stabilize the voltage supply, which would make little sense anyway because most high end components have their own built-in voltage stabilizers. Common power filters based on the isolating transformer principle oftentimes only limit parasitic RF noise above 100 kHz. Also, they work in series with the connected components and limit the power flow, thus, are not usable for Power Amplifiers.
The four RF line filters of the 038 kick in at very low frequencies (-6dB at 2000 Hz).
Additional features of the 038
1. Four additional RF filters to filter out parasitic RF noise for example from digital components or from tuners. These filters have a steep-slope characteristic: -6dB at 2kHz, -20dB at 20kHz and already –60dB at 100 kHz! Hence, digital components or tuners should preferably be hooked up to outlets with RF filter.
2. In all, six audio components can be hooked up directly to the Power Conditioner. On all outlets and on the AC plug of the Power Conditioner the phase has been marked. Mass between the six outlets has been star-connected.
3. With Burmesters preamplifiers and D/A Converters that have a variable output the outlets of the 038 can be remotely switched on and off.
4. The display of the 038 indicates DC offset and voltage. The display can be switched off.
5. We recommend connecting Power Amplifiers to the four outlets without RF noise filters.

The quality of the AC current coming out of the wall outlet has become without a doubt one of the weakest links in every high-end music system. Due to the many switched-mode power supplies in PCs, TV sets, microwave ovens and light dimmers the 60Hz AC power line is polluted with high-frequency noise and direct current. Spot-occurrence of DC makes normally quiet transformers suddenly hum. It is also responsible for baffling variations in the sound quality, where from one day to the next or at different times of day the stereo image suddenly loses focus and the musical sparkle vanishes. Burmester Audiosysteme was the first to fully recognize this problem and to search for a solution.
Burmesters Power CONDITIONER 948 actively suppresses any direct current content and its electrical design has already received worldwide patent protection. Besides suppressing DC the 948 also offers very efficient high-frequency filters for AC power lines. A total of eight highest-quality AC outlets, star-connected and remote-controlled by the preamp, make the 948 the ideal power line conditioner for any high end audio system.

With the 022, Burmester is introducing a speaker with really compact dimensions for the first time. It was possible to realize the goal of creating a sound converter for confined spaces as well as for use in a home theater set-up, while adhering to the Burmester quality standards:
The construction unites the AMT (Air Motion Transformer), which is known for its speed and resolution capacities, with the powerful low-midrange combination of a highly developed woofer drive and cleverly designed bass reflex cabinet. This results in a homogenous full-range loudspeaker.
Tweeter:
An AMT (Air Motion Transformer), which operates after the principles of the Airmotion Transformers by Dr. Oskar Heil. Through contractions of the membrane folds, the air is set into motion extremely fast, which is impossible with the regularly used (dynamic) dome tweeters.
Bass/Midrange Drive:
An elaborate die-cast aluminum enclosure houses the NOMEX-membrane, which is constructed with considerable inner damping. (This membrane itself is made out of an air-dried, resonance minimized NAWI-cone with reinforced fiber.) The membrane is attached via longterm durable rubber surround and a central spider suspension, which is ventilated bilaterally, making it suited for large excursions. The extra-long high temperature moving coil is powered by a strong magnet system.
This way, the 022-drivers are ideally equipped for the dynamic standards (live atmosphere) required by Burmester products. Furthermore, both drivers are magnetically shielded, so that the 022 can be set up very close to a television set without any problems.
Cabinet:
The reinforced cabinet, made out of 22 mm MDF board, is layered with a thick felt fleece on the inside, which suppresses disturbing resonances within the cabinet, without hindering the necessary expansion of sound for bass reflex speakers. Instead of a reflex tube, which is succeptible to air motion turbulences and natural resonances, a phase reversal channel is used, which avoids such effects. The outside outlet of the channel is positioned in front, below the front plate, so that the 022 can be set up close to a wall without hindering the reflex radiation. Inside, the channel ends directly behind the driver, which ensures that it can operate effectively.
This way, cabinet and reflex channel are optimated for the bass/midrange driver used, resulting in a reproduction with an exact impulse and strong bass signal.
The front facing is painted silver and covers not only all optically bothersome screws and parts of the drivers which are not necessary for sound radiation; the sound paths created by it also add to the desired sound emanation. The front mounting of the cabinet, together with a felt damping layer between cabinet and facing results in a 40 mm thick baffle, which is completely free of natural resonances.
The Crossover Circuit:
Highest quality parts, with the least possible deficiency, such as MP-film capacitors, very low resistance, low distortion coils, as well as metal film resistors are thus combined to form a network with 12dB-filter characteristics. This way, the amplitude-frequency response and impedance characterisitcs are linear, and impulse as well as time characteristics are at their optimum. The pc-board with a thick copper layer on both sides is directly bolted to the stable and contact-secure pole terminals, which are also used in all the 'big' Burmester products. Of course the 022 is also ready for bi-wiring/bi-amping-operation.
Set-up:
The 022 rests on felt-gliders, which not only provide a secure set-up but also prevent any harm to furniture. It can be connected to the speaker stand 023, which is constructed in the same design as the Burmester racks 023.

Die neuen Modelle B30, B25 und B20 bieten die gleichen klanglichen Eigenschaften wie Ihre größeren Schwestern und sind sie mühelos in der Lage auch große Räume mit vollem Klang zu füllen. Und das alles zu einem attraktiven Preis.
Die neuen Lautsprecher B30, B25 und B20 nehmen klanglich entscheidende Teile der B100 auf und bringen sie mit Merkmalen der 961 zusammen. Das Ergebnis sind ästhetisch ansprechende Lautsprecher, welche die klanglichen Eigenschaften der B100 für ein breites Publikum erschwinglich machen.
Folgende Merkmale habe die B30, B25 und B20 mit der B100 gemeinsam:
1. Neuer Mitteltöner: Der neue Mitteltöner ist eine Burmester Eigenentwicklung, die wir mit dem Burmester ‚B’ auf der Kevlar-Gewebemembran dokumentiert haben. Erfahrungen aus dem Bugatti-Projekt machten diese Entwicklung möglich. Das gesamte Schwingsystem (Membran/Sicken) wurde speziell auf den Einsatz in den B30, B25 und B20 Lautsprechern hin entwickelt. Ein kraftvolles Antriebssystem aus Nd Magneten verhilft den B30, B25 und B20 zu einer präzisen und detailgetreuen Mitteltonwiedergabe wie schon von der B100 bekannt. Im Zusammenspiel mit der auf den neuen Mitteltöner angepassten Frequenzweiche ist zugleich der Frequenzverlauf im kritischen Mitteltonbereich (300-1500Hz) nochmals deutlich linearer geworden als bei Lautsprechern anderer Hersteller. Die Musikreproduktion hat die enorme Kraft und Substanz der B100.
2. Ein neuer AMT (Air Motion Transformer), der einen noch weiter ausgedehnten Frequenz-Verlauf von 1.800 bis über 45.000Hz aufweist, findet seinen Einsatz in einem Hornaufsatz. Mit diesem ebenfalls aus der B100 bekannten Konstruktionsprinzip kann der Hochtöner bereits ab 2800 Hz angekoppelt werden und höchste Pegel unverzerrt wiedergeben.
3. Die seitlich angeordneten ovalen Tieftöner maximieren die Membranfläche und sorgen mit ihrem extrem starken Ferrit Magnetsystem für kraftvolle Basswiedergabe. Die Bässe sind unter den aus der B100, B80 und B50 bekannten Burmester Rippen versteckt, welche die Tieftöner effektiv vor Berührung schützen ohne die Schallabstrahlung der Tieftöner zu behindern.
4. Die aus dänischer Fertigung stammenden Gehäuse setzen auf die Verwendung von Birkenpress- sowie HDF-Platten (hochdichte Faser). Aluminium Laminat und edle Furniere verleihen den Lautsprechern ein Finish auf allerhöchstem Niveau.
5. Die Frequenzweichen wurden ebenfalls aus der B100 Frequenzweiche abgeleitet. Die Frequenzweichen konnten auf Grund der speziell für diese Lautsprecher angefertigten Chassis einfach gestaltet werden. Klangliche Beeinflussungen bleiben so außen vor. Die Innenverkabelung besteht aus hochreinem OCC Kupfer, 8 mm² für die TT und 4 mm² für MT und HT.

Computermatching
Alle Chassis werden 14 Tage eingespielt (Tieftöner und Mitteltöner mit 10 Hz, Hochtöner mit rosa Rauschen). Per Computer werden danach alle Chassis über ihren Frequenzverlauf an 6 Punkten vermessen (nicht nur an den Übergangsfrequenzen) und dann mit einer garantierten Paarabweichung von weniger als 0.5 dB über den gesamten Frequenzgang zusammengepaart. Nachdem ein ideales Pärchen Hochtöner gefunden ist, sucht der Computer ein passendes Pärchen Mitteltöner, danach das hierzu passende Pärchen Tieftöner. Durch diese Prozedur entstehen praktisch identische Lautsprecherpaare. Der riesige Aufwand wird durch die bestechende Räumlichkeit belohnt. Burmester Lautsprecher sind durch die erzielte Paargleichheit in der Lage, z.B. Stimmen wie festgenagelt im Raum zu halten. Die Musik löst sich vom Lautsprecher und steht wie eine Wolke im Raum. Wie wir meinen, ist dieser Aufwand nicht nur in dieser Preisklasse einmalig, sondern bei Burmester Lautsprechern Stand der Technik.

Besonderheit
Die Tieftöner strahlen seitlich von den einander zugewandten Seiten ab. Diese Anordnung hat den Vorteil, dass der vom Tieftöner abgestrahlte hochfrequente Schallanteil nicht direkt zum Hörplatz gelangt.
Außerdem wird durch die einander zugewandten Tieftonmembranen eine zusätzliche Kompression im Tieftonbereich ohne Auslöschungseffekte erreicht. Der Abstand zwischen den Lautsprechern sollte im Idealfall ca. 2,5 Meter betragen.
Bedämpfung
* Sparsame Bedämpfung der beiden Tieftonkammern, um möglichst wenig Tieftonenergie zu schlucken. Dämmmaterial ist Filz, der Lautsprecher ist nicht mit Dämmwolle vollgestopft. Dadurch kann der Lautsprecher die Bässe bei allen Wiedergabelautsärken schön konturieren.
* Bedämpfung der Mitteltonkammer mit Dämpfungsfilz und einer wohl-dosierten Menge Faservlies, um den vom Mitteltöner rückseitig abgestrahlten Schall zu absorbieren

The RONDO loudspeaker 995 MK3 is closely related to Burmesters 975 LEO. The chassis and the crossover are almost identical. By re-designing the 975 LEO with its stand into a floorstanding speaker and by omitting the expensive aluminum frontpanel of the LEO the 995 MK3 came in at a very attractive price point.
As Burmesters smallest loudspeaker the 995 MK3 is a three way speaker with a loaded woofer. Dieter Burmester's goal when developing the 995 was to create a full range speaker capable of great dynamic response while at the same time doing justice to the tonality and subtleties of instruments and voices and the rhythm of the music (recommended listening: Hans Theesink on the new Burmester reference CD3).

Drivers are matched by computer
All drivers are broken in by running non-stop for 7 days (woofers and mid-range drivers at 10 Hz, tweeters with pink noise). After that they are measured at six points over their frequency range and matched by computer into pairs with a guaranteed deviation of less than 0.5 dB. After matching ideal pairs Burmester then use the computer to best match woofers, mid-range drivers and tweeters. By this arduous procedure Burmester create practically identical speakers. The effort is rewarded with superior imaging chracteristics. The sonic images created by the 995 MK3 never wander, voices stay in place as if they were nailed there and music plays in the room like a cloud instead of beaming from the speaker box. The effort and care Burmester take in producing these speakers is the way they do everything at Burmester. In comparison with the rest of the industry, however, it is unique not just in this price range.

Since introducing the first model in 1994 Burmesters speakers have earned an excellent reputation worldwide. The 949 (949 signifies September of `94) was the first genuine Burmester loudspeaker. It was the beginning of a family of speakers which now includes the 961 MK3 and the 995.
The 961 MK3 as the big sister of the 995 does not have to strain to fill even large rooms with full sound. Burmester customers all over the world have combined these speakers successfully with components of Burmesters model lines RONDO, CLASSIC or TOP. Of course, the 961 MK3 work just as well with audio electronics of other manufacturers.
As is customary for Burmester, older models of the 961 may be factory-upgraded to the 961 MK 3 version with the new Kevlar speaker cone.
(We recommend coordinating dates for the upgrade work with the factory in advance to ensure a speedy turn-around)
The new 961 MK 3 differs mainly in two aspects from its predecessor model:
1. The new mid-range driver decisively advances the strengths of its predecessor. The whole vibration system (cone/rubber surround) has been improved to achieve a more precise and detailed reproduction of the midrange. In combination with the necessary re-design of the crossover network it results in even greater linearity in the critical midrange area (300 to 1000 Hz) than with the older 961. In comparison with the original 961 music reproduced through the new MK 3 has more power and substance. The new mid-range driver of the MK 3 version is distinguished by its cone made of a coated Kevlar mesh.
2. The crossover of the MK 3 version has been re-designed for the new driver.
3. The former tweeter has been replaced by a new generation AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter with an even larger frequency range exceeding 45000 Hz.
However, the proven strengths of the older models – the woofer and the housing design – have been left unchanged.

We build speakers with attention to detail
A superior concept requires corresponding care of execution. All of Burmesters drivers which have been custom-made to Burmesters specifications are burnt-in by us before being measured and computer-matched in pairs with extremely low variances. This procedure guarantees mating tolerances between pairs of speakers that are as low as to be previously regarded as unachievable. Since Burmester archive the technical measurements of each individual driver Burmester are able to supply an identical replacement at any time.
Loudspeakers which are easy on the eyes
A speaker should be built in such a way that it practically enhances any ambient décor. This requires top-quality materials and craftsmanship as well as a perfect design. Burmesters loudspeakers are available in rowan berry and makassar veneer as well as custom lacquers and an unusual silver metallic laminate.

Computer matching
All drivers undergo a 14-day burn-in (woofer and mid-range drivers with constant 10 Hz, tweeters with pink noise). After that, all drivers are measured by computer at six points of their response curve (not only at the crossover points) and matched in pairs to within less than 0.5 dB deviation over their full frequency range. After an ideal pair of tweeters has been found the computer searches for a matching ideal pair of mid-range drivers and, finally, woofers. This procedure ensures practically identical pairs of speakers and the extraordinary effort is rewarded with incredible three-dimensionality. The careful pairing of drivers enables the 961 to project rock-solid images of voices and instruments. The music detaches from the speakers and seems to float like a cloud. We believe this amount of care is unequalled not only at this price level. Burmester loudspeakers are the state of the art.

Special features
The bass drivers of the 961 MK3 fire from the sides of the two speaker cabinets towards each other. The advantage of this design is that the high-frequency portion of the woofer output does not radiate directly towards the listener. The B50 is a direct descendant of Burmesters flagship models B99 and B80. The design of the B50 has been inspired by airplane building and is a reminder of the riveted wings of large turboprops. The model designation underlines the similarities by putting the first letter of the designers name before the model number. The design goal was to create an acoustically ideal yet slender and beautiful speaker system that would easily fit into any living environment, despite its size.
The B50 is a three-way full-range speaker with internal passive crossover. Similar to the larger B99, the B50 sports a highly sophisticated cabinet with an acoustically decoupled chamber for the crossover.
Design Goals and Construction Features:
The B50 has been designed and constructed for natural musical reproduction at any volume level and even hurricane-like sound pressure levels of around 115 dB will not faze this speaker weighing almost 50 kg. Its inner chamber is made of one inch thick ultra-stiff MDF board with an additional complex internal bracing system and is brought into its rounded shape with great skill. The rounded shape and the chamber system drastically reduce sound reflexions within the cabinet.
Separate compartments for mid-range driver and tweeter give additional stiffness. Like all Burmester speakers, the B50 is not damped by wool stuffing but by felt-like mats of varying thickness on the inside of the speaker cabinet walls. The thickness of these mats has been calculated precisely in relation to their placement within the cabinet. This special procedure by Burmester gives the B50 an extremely fast and well-defined bass. Due to the low damping of the woofer the bass remains fully audible even at very low volume levels.
The crossover of the B50 has been designed for high performance and transfer of the signal to the various drivers with minimal loss. With a weight of app. 12 kg it is one of the most sophisticated designs on the world market today. The crossover sits in its own completely sealed enclosure at the bottom of the speaker cabinet. The binding posts are located invisibly on the underside of the speaker. The crossover allows bi-amping as well as bi-wiring.
The overriding goal behind this liberal use of top-class material was to create an extremely low-resistance crossover allowing the high internal damping of the amplifiers to pass to the drivers with minimal loss. Only then are the amps able to tightly control the various drivers.
The circuit boards of the crossover have been covered with a 105 µm-thick layer of copper. While the bass drivers are connected with 10 mm² high-purity copper litz, the mid-range drivers and tweeters are coupled to the crossover using a new Burmester speaker cable of pure silver.

Special feature: computer-matched drivers
All drivers are broken in at high signal levels by Burmester Audiosysteme non-stop for seven days (woofers and mid-range drivers with 10 Hz, tweeters with pink noise). Then they are measured very carefully over their full frequency range and finally matched in pairs by computer. After the computer-matching process Burmester guarantee that the overall frequency deviation between left and right speaker is less than 0.5 dB! With this procedure Burmester can guarantee the technical specs of the speakers for a long time. Burmesters speakers do not need the otherwise customary burn-in period and do not change specs when hooked up by the customer (see computer data).

The binding posts are located invisibly on the underside of the speaker. The crossover allows bi-amping as well as bi-wiring.
The overriding goal behind this liberal use of top-class material was to create an extremely low-resistance crossover allowing the high internal damping of the amplifiers to pass to the drivers with minimal loss. Only then are the amps able to tightly control the various drivers.
The circuit boards of the crossover have been covered with a 2 x 70mm-thick layer of copper. While the bass drivers are connected with 10 mm² high-purity copper litz, the mid-range drivers with 4 mm² and tweeters are coupled to the crossover using a new Burmester speaker cable of pure silver.

The B100 is Burmesters new flag ships in the loudspeaker program. The form of B 100 is taken and reminded to the aircraft construction of the aerodynamically clean bearing areas of large airplanes. New technical realizations flowed into the development. Measuring techniques of most modern kind helped with the development to exclude also smallest errors. The time-correct rendition and high dynamics those the live representation corresponding were demands in the obligation booklet of the B100. The result is a graceful designed loudspeaker, which can be integrated despite its size harmoniously into each living room and at the same time the gates to the benefitful music rendition opens.
The B100 is a three-way full-range loudspeaker with built-in phaserigid passive crossover with filters of first order.
Bass-, mid-range and high-frequency drivers are arranged in a d’Appolito configuration. The cabinet of the B100 is double-walled.
Design goals and construction features:
The B100 is not laid out for rendition true to nature also with highest levels and even with gale-like levels over 115 dB brings those nearly 128kg heavy box anything from the peace. For this a double-walled housing ensures belonged to the most complicated, what was ever invented for high ending a loudspeaker. The internal chamber is composed strong MDF plates with complicated interior reinforcements of 25mm. Additional firmness the central gives to high/mid tone chambers as well as a reinforcement by 6mm strong aluminum plates. The center speaker C8 is the ideal companion for Burmesters loudspeakers in home theater applications. The drivers for the C8 have been chosen with great care to create a perfect match with all Burmesters speaker lines. One of its unique features is its uncritical placement. The C8 can be integrated into the Burmester rack system but may be used as a stand-alone speaker as well. Uncritical placement makes it easy to integrate the speaker pleasingly into any living environment.
The C8 sports the mid-range and tweeter system of the B50, with an additional magnetic shielding for the midrange driver. To make the C8 a full-fledged voice channel it was tuned with the same care as a high-end speaker.
Design Goals and Construction Features:
The C8 has been designed for life-like sound reproduction even at very high volumes. Sound pressure levels up to 110 dB do not faze the solid center speaker weighing in at almost 35 kg. The chambers of the C8 have been constructed from one-inch thick ultra-stiff MDF board with an additional complex bracing system. The bracing and the chamber design drastically reduce sound reflections within the speaker cabinet.
Like all Burmester speakers, the C8 has not been dampened by wool stuffing but by felt-like mats on the inside of the speaker cabinet walls. The thickness of these mats has been calculated precisely in relation to their placement within the cabinet. This special procedure by Burmester gives the C8 an extremely fast and well-defined bass. The powered subwoofer S8 is the ideal companion to Burmesters other speakers. The S8 is suitable for expanding existing two-channel systems as well as for multi-channel home theater applications. Its multiple control features give it almost universal flexibility. A strong amplifier with 1000 Watts is mounted atop mighty heat sinks.
The S8 sports two side-firing woofers with ultra-long cone throw. Despite its compact dimensions the S8 reproduces even the deepest frequencies without strain. Its beautiful design makes it an ideal match for Burmesters loudspeakers B100, B80 and B50.

The S8 is built for natural sound reproduction up to highest volume levels. Even rip-roaring levels around 115dB do not faze the subwoofer weighing almost 80 kg. The inner chamber made from ultra-stiff MDF board of 35 mm thickness has been fortified with a complex bracing system and brought into its rounded shape with great skill. The rounded shape and the chamber construction drastically reduce reflections within the cabinet.
